I changed my password in Wells Fargo advisors without special characters, once I did that I was able to log on and download my 1099s 🙄
I changed my password in WFA without having any special characters and I was able to download my 1099 to TurboTax premiere 🤷
I see this was a problem in prior years. My attempt to import today unsuccessful multiple times. Spoke with WF, told to change password so as NOT to include a special character - I did - no luck. Called TT, she said it is a problem with my browser and cookie settings. This had not been a problem in many prior years - used to work fine. So I checked my Safari (I use a Mac) and it is set to accept cookies. Tried login again - no luck. Tried using Chrome, set it as Default, set to accept third party cookies - no luck. Don't know what to do now!!?
Does anyone at TT monitor this ?

I am having an issue today using the Windows version of TT. The message says "Import unsuccessful. There isnt any tax-related info to import right now. I called WFA and was finally told multiple people are reporting issues and try again in a few days. We shall see.
For what it is worth: about 3 hours ago, after I posted my above comment, when I tried to do the import again, I received a different message, this time apparently from Wells Fargo, instructing to try again later.
So It appears the problem is at WF end, and has nothing to do with whatever browser I use or cookie settings.
I called WF - they acknowledged that the problem was with them. I was told that they would have the problem fixed within 24 to 48 hours.
I have the same issue. And I am sure that I have the correct credentials for WFA as well.
I think that the problem is on the Wells Fargo Advisors end. I got a couple of messages from WFA is TT stating that there was a delay in having the tax docs available for import. They were not specific about the cause of the delay.
I was able to download yesterday afternoon (2/15/2024) at 4 PM PST.
I just tried (noon CT) and it worked. I guess they found the issue and got it fixed.
For the last several days I have been getting notification Wells Fargo is under maintenance until a certain date and time, when I log back in after that date and time the date and time has been extended. For me, Wells Fargo is the last to have 1099s ready. I guess tax season catches them off hard each year. Seems rather amateur for such a large company. In a prior year they sent me corrected 1099s which caused me to refile. I have learned not to expect much and be patient with Wells Fargo at tax time.
Just tried again. I always log in to WF Bank and access my investment accounts from there (I don't think I even have a WF Advisors login). I can successfully log on the WF and see my accounts (including investment accoutns), but when I try to import I get:
Something unexpected happened and we can’t connect to Wells Fargo Bank.
Try again in a few hours
Even though I was connected. FWIW: Schwab and Wealthfront worked fine.
Well, it worked for me on the 15th. I asked my broker about corrected 1099's this year - he said that he checked and all mutual funds of my were final - I am hoping to not get any corrected ones this year!
Just tried again. Still not working as of 3/1/24
The issue is the SPECIAL CHARACTER in your password! I changed my password to letters and numbers only, and removed the 2 step authentication just in case - and FINALLY I was able to download all of my trades. Thank you because I have been attempting this for two weeks!
Thank you to @marjcr for mentioning their answer as it solved my problem!
I was getting that same "Something unexpected happened" error as well even though I could see all of my accounts after the login step. I started over and chose Wells Fargo Advisors instead of just the Wells Fargo bank item in the bank selection step and it worked.
Last year I also learned about the password issue: Change password to remove all special characters. No dashes either.
