No, you cannot claim mortgage interest on your home against your gas and oil royalties on Schedule E.

Mortgage interest is claimed on Schedule A if you itemize your deductions.

I didn't think you could deduct mortgage interest, but decided to check, since Turbo Tax put it in automatically. I will remove it...….check your returns.

I'm being audited by New York State for 2022. On line 20 for interest income on bonds, I reported $0. Did TurboTax make an error in preparing my New York State taxes?
