No, you cannot claim mortgage interest on your home against your gas and oil royalties on Schedule E.

Mortgage interest is claimed on Schedule A if you itemize your deductions.

I didn't think you could deduct mortgage interest, but decided to check, since Turbo Tax put it in automatically. I will remove it...….check your returns.

My primary home in California is on Rent. My wife is buying another property ( her name in mortgage), and will be using as primary. Can we both have 2 separate primary?
