You can import your 1099-B from TD Ameritrade because it participates in the TurboTax Partner program.

  1. Continue your return in TurboTax Online.
  2. Click Tax Tools (lower left of your screen).
  3. Select Tools.
  4. In the pop-up window, select Topic Search.
  5. In the I'm looking for: box, type 1099-b.
  6. Did you get a 1099-B or a brokerage statement for these sales? Click Yes.
  7. Choose your bank or brokerage. Select TD Ameritrade under the popular choices, then scroll down and click Continue.
  8. Enter the information requested to access your account. (For TD Ameritrade, this is the Account Number and Document ID.) For security reasons, you'll need to click the box next to I'm not a robot and follow the instructions. Once there is a green check-mark next to "I'm not a robot", you may scroll down and click Continue to import the 1099-B.

Or you can enter it manually using the typing 1099-B in the search box.

Keep in mind, you don't need to enter all information from the statement. Look for Forms 1099(s) in your statement. Depending on the kind of income you received form them, it could be different kind of 1099s.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.

If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.

Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.

If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X. return.

Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed

See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2020 TurboTax online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/01/27577

The IRS Form 1040-X for amending a 2020 tax return is scheduled to be available on 02/26/2021 (subject to change)
