If I do not receive a 1040 D from Charles Schwab (where I traded some stock once or twice last year) do I need to file a Schedule D on my taxes?

You should receive a Form 1099-B from the brokerage if you sold any stock in 2019.  The brokerage usually will send out the 1099-B in late January or early February.

Also, see this TurboTax support FAQ for importing a form 1099 - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/entering-importing/help/how-do-i-import-my-1099/01/26254

You get a 1099 for investments.  A 1099B for sales and 1099INT & 1099DIV  For interest and dividends.  You don't get a D,  you fill out schedule D.  The brokers haven't sent the 1099s yet.  Wait for it.  Do not file until you get all your info and forms.
