I need to report the sale of tax free bonds from a 1099-B form. The form provided to me by the broker has the Date of Sale but not the Date Acquired - it is blank. Turbo Tax will not allow me to enter this sale without the Date Acquired - it appears to be a required field.
Is there any way to get around this?

Did you buy them at different times? You can type VARIOUS for purchase date. But first you would need to split the sale into long term and short term if you bought some more than a year before the sale. So you might need to make 2 sale entries.
They were all purchased at the same time in early 2015 via my Financial Advisor - held for a bit over 3 years. I will also contact the broker to understand the reasoning for this.
You should be able to find the purchase date from your own records, from bank statements or broker statements and confirmation slips. Or just enter any date in 2015 to make it long term.
Usually the 1099B will have Backup pages with the details.
Thanks so much! The challenge is that the broker has already reported this sale on the 1099-B as a short-term. Concerned that entering an older date to make the sale appear long-term now could cause issues. The broker is researching.
