carry over rental property losses without filing AZ state return

I have net loss from Arizona rental property, I'm non-resident in Arizona, and I'm not filing Arizona state tax return (no income to report). In this case, can I still carry over losses to next year? In other words, are carryovers tracked via federal worksheets?

It depends. As indicated by Arizona filing requirements, technically you are not required to file. You should be able to use the carryover passive activity losses in a future year based on the federal return but I can't guarantee that. You could print the return and send it just to be sure.
