I logged into my account and typed 1099-B in the search box, but instead of jumping to the section to enter information, it opens a new window for information about 1099-B. Am I doing something wrong?!

The problem with some "learn more" links not working is a known issue for everyone. Since you're using Online TurboTax with a browser, I wouldn't think the age of your Mac would matter as long as you have a relatively recent browser.
When you used the second search method I outlined above, it sounds like you got almost to the correct location but didn't go far enough. Here's how to manually get there without using either search tool.

You appear to be using Online TurboTax.
"am I doing something wrong"
Probably, but I'll show you a screenshot and also provide another way to get there. Are you sure your return interview was open before you used the search icon? Open the return interview, then see the screenshot below. You'll know your return is open if you see all of the menu items in the left column, such as My Info, Federal, State, Review, Tax Tools, etc. After entering the search term be sure to use the second magnifying glass icon as shown in the screen shot.

Or here's an alternative shortcut that doesn't use that "jump to" method:
Hi mesquitebean,
Thank you very much for your help.
Method number one does not work. On my computer, there is no magnifying glass icon in the screen shot location that you numbered with a 1.
Method number two works, but the program goes to “Your investments and savings”. I completed that section without finding a location for entering info from 1099-B.
Other things are also not functioning, as I would expect them to according to experience with TurboTax. For example, some underlined or highlighted text that reads, “learn more”, are not functioning.
I wonder if functionality is affected by: 1) the age of my computer, and 2) the operating system: 1) mid 2012, and 2) MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6.
Yesterday, I tried to contact TurboTax. The program stated that they would call me in five minuets, but they never did. I tried to contact TurboTax again today. The program again stated that they would call me in five minuets, but that was at least two hours ago.
Thank you.

I entered the 1099-B successfully!
Thank you very much for your help.
