I have a form K1 in my taxes. after I get to the part to list my capital account it will not let me enter information. if I try more than once it will cause TurboTax to crash

I had a child as non resident status and had changed the child status to resident alien/ citizen couple of years back. The system still applied the child credit of $500 only as against $1500. When I deleted the child record and added a dependent with same detail I was able to get the correct child credit applied. I wonder if I have to recheck and file a correction for all the previous submission. 😰

My 2020 taxable income is 92,863 and TT shows I owe 7,423 in taxes.

The IRS.Gov table shows I owe 12,013.  What gives?

It depends what kind of income you have. Even though the full amount shows up in the total income on the 1040 line 7, if you have capital gains or qualified dividends the tax is not taken from the tax table but is calculated separately from Schedule D. The tax will be calculated on the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. It does not get filed with your return. In the online version you need to save your return as a pdf file and include all the worksheets to see it.

Hello, could you tell me how to get out of this software loop??

    In the TurboTax Self-Employed,

at the very end of my review it gives this screen:

And when I correct line 16 from "-997." (above pic) to "1,459." and press the CONTINUE button,

    I get the screen below:

And when I press the FIX FEDERAL RETURN button (above pic),

then I get screen below (SAME as the 1st pic):

    It's an infinite loop...

(I've also tried the values "0", "0.", "1,459",  and "1" for line 16 and they all lead back to an infinite loop)

(Note: in reference "entering health insurance and retirement contributions for each specific business" (pic above), I have only one business and the health insurance contributions are straight forward and I have no retirement contributions.)

Thank you for any time you give this,

    CB

    Good day,

Using Turbo tax Premier, the form was rejected due to the payers TIN number does not match what the IRS has on file.  On my 1099R, it doesn't show a TIN, but Payers Federal Identification number.   I enter that number:   34-xxxxx1.

However, Turbo Tax continues to add a 0 (zero) at the end, thus creating it to be rejected.

How can I get this fixed?

      Thank you,

My 1099r from Office of Personnel Management (OPM) show gross distribution (line 1) of one amount and a taxable amount (line 2) which is smaller by about $700. However, Turbo tax (for Mac) uses the higher amount (line 1) to calculate taxable income which then overstates the tax due. Am I misinterpreting something?

Iowa State Tax summary sheet does not add up! Total tax is incorrect. It shows $1877 which is before the $40 single credit and before the added $73 school tax. The total should be $1910 total tax. The next line is tax paid $1736, which is correct. The tax owed is $174  which is correct, but $1877 - $1736  does not equal $174 as shown. Incorrect total tax shown thus the summary of $1877 total tax, - $1736 tax paid = $141 not $174. Did the right math internally but the summary is picking up the incorrect Total tax.

My Utah state return claims I need to fix my state employer ID numbers "Must be 14 characters without hyphens." and I looked at the return it created and all state employer ID numbers are correct, so I think there might be something wrong with the software there.

Is there a way to remove my Utah return so I can e-file my federal return and just mail in my Utah return?

It's a "quirk" in the software that is usually easily fixed.   That is a common problem with Utah state returns, and has been an easy fix for most.

The problem is with the Utah TC-40W form and the Employer/Payer state withholding ID number in Box 15 of a W-2, for instance.   It can also happen with some 1099's if there is Utah withholding.

The employer state withholding ID is 14 characters in length--11 characters than an additional wth at the end.  You are correct that you do not use any hyphens.  However, many people have had to use lower case for the wth to get it to work.    So try a lower case wth and hopefully that will let you efile.

NOTE:  If you have more than one W-2 or 1099 with such a state withholding ID number, you have to change it to lower case on all the forms.   The lower case wth has to be used on all the Utah W-2's, 1099's, in your return that have an employer/payer state withholding ID number.

Turbotax Deluxe Form 1099-R Line 37

Input 3 1099-Rs. The withholding added incorrectly. I cannot override the number. I cannot e-file with an override.

What is the E: drive?   Is that an external drive or a thumb drive, by any chance?   Did you by any chance install the software on a removable USB drive?  If so, that's not recommended.

What version of Windows are you using?   Is your TurboTax software up to date?

I received a notice from mississippi state department of revenue stating my income tax withheld on my tax return is different from my w-2 by $3000. I have doubled checked what I entered and it matches w-2 so why the difference? Was it an error in addition by the software?

If you sent them the correct information via TurboTax, then send a copy of the W2 showing the withholdings to the state of Mississippi.  If you wish assistance in preparing a response, please click the following link for additional assistance:  What is the TurboTax Audit Support Guarantee?
