Everytime I try to review my Assets in Self Business, it circles around and returns me to the same page that says Review by Assets.

Yesterday after I finish preparing my tax return, I try to e-file it, but it was a message saying that the zip code 55101 that shows on Securian Life Insurance Company document is invalid. I do not what to do. Please help.

It can sometimes say an address has a zip code error when it's actually something else wrong with the address.

Be sure the city and state abbreviation are correct.  It's easy to choose the wrong state abbreviation in a dropdown menu, such as confusing MA, ME, MN, MO or AK, AL, AZ, AR, etc.    If the wrong abbreviation is chosen, that would cause a zip code mismatch.

Also verify the official address styling and zip code at this US Postal Service tool:

    Re: TurboTax South Carolina

South Carolina allows a $10,000 exemption from taxable Survivor Benefit Income.

TurboTax allows you to enter a Survivor Income 1099R (with reason #4 - Death) for EACH of the husband and the wife...a total of 2 exemptions or $20,000 tax free.

My wife has TWO (2) separate Survivor Incomes on TWO (2) separate 1099R's for TWO (2) different former husbands who are deceased.

I have ONE (1) Survivor Income on ONE (1) 10099R from my former wife who is deceased.

WE confirmed with South Carolina Dept of Taxation that we should receive THREE(3) exemptions totally $30,000 but TurboTax does not have a way to enter more than two.

    I found 2 software errors:

    - Iowa - Did not populate line 18 of schedule A with my Fed 4684 fed disaster loss. I had to manually override that to populate it.

    - Iowa - Form 1040 Line 24:  Other Adjustments Statement - populated $300 on line jj when I itemized Iowa.  Per the Iowa 1040 instructions "Charitable contribution for non-itemizers from federal form 1040, line 10b. The charitable contribution cannot exceed $300. IA 1040, Schedule A may not contain any charitable contributions which were deducted on this line."  Turbotax did not reduce my deductions on Iowa schedule A by the $300 and I had to manually override that field.

I did enter both forms into TurboTax Premier for Windows. I can see them the exported 2019_key_worksheets.pdf, but  not in 2019_ Filing.pdf.

IRS just sent me a notice that I owe more tax because it thinks I took the money from a 529 plan but didn't use it for tuition. I understand it should think that if it didn't see these forms.

Where do I call or write to get Intuit help me resolve this?

When you enter the 1099-Q and 1098-T into TurboTax, TurboTax prepares the Form 1099-Q worksheet, the Form 1099-Q Summary worksheet, Form 1098-T worksheet, Student Information Worksheet, etc.  Those worksheets may be included in your worksheets PDF (if all worksheets are selected), but are not sent with the return.  The info flows from them to other forms that are sent with the return if the followup interview questions are answered correctly.

NOTE:   I don't know what all is in the file you mentioned that you called "key worksheets."  You may have to save a PDF with all the worksheets to see everything I mentioned above, such as the Student Information Worksheet.   Or more easily, just go into Forms Mode, and you'll see all the forms and worksheets in the left column list of forms.

I'm a fellow user and not an expert in that category.  So I am going to see if I can summon someone who is likely familiar with those 529 education savings plans to help you in this thread to figure out what is going on.   He is likely going to need to ask you more questions.   I'll also tell you how to speak to TurboTax Support if ultimately needed.

@ Hal_Al  I believe you may be familiar with this situation re: a 529 plan and education expenses.  If so, when you are next in the forum, can you please assist his user in figuring out what might have happened that is causing the IRS to send a tax bill in regards to his 2019 return?  Thanks!

    kshk1970:

First see if Hal_Al adds any additional info that helps you, then if you end up needing to talk to TurboTax Support, here's how you can reach them.

If you purchased Audit Defense, we can tell you how to contact the folks that handle that product for help with your IRS notice.  If you did not purchase Audit Defense, you still get free help with your IRS situation through the TurboTax free Audit Support Center.   To speak to TurboTax Support  go to the page below and click the blue "Get Help" button, then follow the prompts to get the phone number.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.

Go to this IRS website for federal tax refund FAQ's - https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions

Why is my refund different than the amount on the tax return I filed?

All or part of your refund may have been used (offset) to pay off past-due federal tax, state income tax, state unemployment compensation debts, child support, spousal support, or other federal nontax debts, such as student loans. To find out if you may have an offset or if you have questions about an offset, contact the agency to which you owe the debt.

We also may have changed your refund amount because we made changes to your tax return. This may include corrections to any incorrect Recovery Rebate Credit amount. You’ll get a notice explaining the changesWhere’s My Refund? will reflect the reasons for the refund offset when it relates to a change in your tax return.

Tax Topic 203, Refund Offsets for Unpaid Child Support, Certain Federal and State Debts, and Unemployment Compensation Debts has more information about refund offsets.

I need to talk to someone. On my "File by Mail Instructions for your 2020 Colorado Amended Tax Return", you mention "Your amended tax return - Form 104X ..." but I ended up sending "DR 0104". This isn't right. I need to TALK TO SOMEONE.

A Colorado amended tax return, Form DR 0104X, can only be printed and mailed to the state.

If you printed, signed and dated the amended return, did you mail the DR 0104X?

If you mailed the Form DR 0104, the question is why did you do that?  That is the Colorado Individual Income Tax Return

There appears to have been a calculation error that occurred during my 2020 tax return. Line 43700 was miscalculated by the software and the CRA is now requiring me to pay with penalties based on this flawed calculation.

TurboTax Premier 2021 does not appear to have the correct HSA contribution limit.  I believe the IRS allowable maximum contribution is $8200 including the $1000 make-up contribution.  TurboTax says that is $100 too much.

The TurboTax software for tax year 2021 has not yet been updated for the 2021 HSA Contribution limit.  The IRS has not yet finalized the forms, schedules and instructions needed to update the limit for tax year 2021.  Once the IRS updates their instructions the TurboTax software will be updated.

The 2021 version of TT Self-Employed software reports $14,250 as the federal Standard Deduction for a single filer when, in fact, the correct Standard Deduction for a single filer is $12 550 for 2021 T/Y. Please investigate and correct this ASAP, as this creates tax underpayments for TT users? Thanks.

Thanks, xmasbaby, for the clarification. I only focused on the Standard Deduction amount not realizing there was an additional adjustment due to age. So, appreciate your post!
