Was your Efile Rejected? We can't see your return in this forum, but the 'Fix My Return' link should take you to the area you need to fix. Look for an email from TurboTax or use the TurboTax E-file Status Tracker.
If you need extra time, filing an extension by April 15, 2026, moves your submission deadline to October 15. But remember any taxes owed are still due in full by the original April 15 date.

@DanaB27 i have a couple of follow up questions: 1. Given that I declare and pay taxes on that $21K excess deferral in my 2025 tax return, should i inform the 401K administrator of employer 1 & 2 that i have decided to not take the distribution till past 60 and do i also need to tell them that by electing to pay taxes on the full amount of 21K - I intend to keep the Roth portion intact and the 21K should be allocated to the traditional 401k portion alone? 2. lets say at age 60, if we were to withdraw the Roth 401K from employer 1 - i assume that it will trigger the issue of a 1099-R at that time. Ideally the 1099-R box entry for the 'taxable amount' should be "$0". If the taxable amount is not zero - does that mean the 401K administrator possibly is tainting the Roth 401K with this excess deferral? in that case, will i have to dispute the 1099-R ? thanks

The IRS is saying I owe >$3k in taxes from my 2023 return. I believe they are wrong, bc the taxes they think I owe are from RSUs that were granted that year and that I already paid taxes for.

To claim your siblings as dependents you must provide more than half of their total support (rent, food, clothing) for the year.
If the CalWORKs covers housing, food, and clothes, you likely cannot claim them. If you pay over 50% of these costs with your own money, you may be able to.
Also, your siblings must live with you for more than half the year and not provide more than half of their own support.
Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

Yes, your wife will likely face a 10% early withdrawal penalty in addition to regular income taxes, unless she qualifies for a specific exception.
Generally, the IRS imposes this penalty on any 401(k) distribution taken before age 59½. If she was age 55 or older (age 50 for certain public safety workers) during the calendar year she was terminated, she can take penalty-free withdrawals from the 401(k) associated with that specific employer.
Here is a list of exceptions >> 10% early withdraw penalty exceptions

To delete Form 2106 (Employee Business Expenses) or the related California Form 3106 in TurboTax, you need to remove the source data in the Federal section. Since state forms are mirrors of federal data, deleting the federal form usually clears the state version.
1. The Direct Way: Delete a Form
Open your return and select Tax Tools from the left menu, then Tools.
Click Delete a Form from the pop-up window.
Find Form 2106 (and any Schedule CA worksheets related to 2106 or 3106) in the list.
Click Delete next to the form and confirm.
2. The Step-by-Step Way (Federal)
If the form keeps reappearing, you must clear the entry in the interview section:
Go to Federal > Deductions & Credits.
Scroll down to Employment Expenses (under the Job-Related Expenses section).
Click Start/Revisit next to Job-Related Expenses.
Select Delete (the trash can icon) next to the occupation listed. This will wipe out all Form 2106 data.

Unfortunately there’s not an option to delete the Georgia taxes. I was going to restart all of taxes, but I’ve already paid for them so it won’t allow me to do that.

@wjohnsonl wrote: How can I change 5 digit e-filing pin after filing? It was set when I filed but was lost. The 5-digit efiling PIN (aka "signature PIN" or "self-select PIN") can be any 5 digits of your choice, except cannot be all zeros. You can use the same one or select a new one every year. I'm not sure I understand the context for your question. Did you get an efile rejection? If so, it's more likely due to AGI or IP PIN than the 5-digit self-select PIN. If you got an efile rejection, please provide the rejection error code/message.

Yes, you can amend your return using TurboTax. It's pretty simple if you filed the original return using TurboTax. See the following articles:

How to File an Amended Tax Return with the IRS
Once you start the amend process, you will just change your answer in the personal info section to indicate someone can can claim you.
If you didn't file your original return in TurboTax it's a little trickier. You would have to recreate the original return in TurboTax, pay for it and then amend the return.
