Thanks, but I am referring to the simple confirmation that a return that was e-filed was accepted, not processed. I understand processing takes weeks, but a confirmation of acceptance is typically sent within 24-48 hours and in my case I'm approaching 72 hours with no updates on the status of the NJ filing

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:
Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu.
Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website.
Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms.
Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit."
Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.
Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

This is generally handled with the state tax entry.

Did you e-file your tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the IRS use the federal tax refund website to check the refund status - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...
After the tax return has been Accepted by the IRS (meaning only that they received the return) it will be in the Processing mode until the tax refund has been Approved and then an Issue Date will be available on the IRS website.

If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
Select your product below and follow the instructions.

We need clarification. There is no such thing as an employee sponsored IRA.
A qualified workplace retirement plan is created under sections of the tax law including 401k, 403b, 401a, and others. You can only make contributions via payroll deduction, and there are a number of other rules the employer must follow.
If an employer wants to help employees save for retirement, but does not want to follow all the rules for a qualified plan, the employer can offer a Payroll deduction IRA. There are key differences between a payroll deduction IRA and a qualified workplace plan. The most important is that a payroll deduction IRA is your IRA–you are the only owner. The employer can help you make contributions by payroll deduction, but it is your money. All the money is taxable on your paycheck and W-2. The employer can't add tax-free contributions as an employee benefit. You can make separate contributions to the IRA from out of pocket funds. If you contributed to a tax-deductible traditional IRA, you must take the tax deduction on your tax return, it is not handled automatically on your W-2 like a qualified plan.

So you need to clarify if you participated in a qualified plan or an IRA. If it was an IRA, then whether or not you have a basis depends on if it is a traditional or Roth IRA and how you reported your contributions on your tax return for the year you made them. You must report those contributions, the employer doesn't do it for you.

This is exactly what happened to me—I always answer NO to the foreign residency question. As I read others have done the same and the software reverts their No to Yes. TT refuse to stand by their 100% calculation accuracy guarantee. After being a customer for years, how they are treating this is disappointing. My confidence in this product would be secure if they would at least stand behind their promise and refund my product purchase.
