I suspect that you are misunderstanding how the phase-out works.   MAGI of $242k means your deduction is reduced by $8400.     If you had $10,000 or more of qualified vehicle loan interest, yes, you would get a deduction of $1600.   But if you had $8400 or less of qualified vehicle loan interest, that is reduced by $8400, which gives a $0 deduction.

if you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund then the banking information on the tax form is the information to send your refund to the third party bank.  That bank gets your refund first from the IRS.  They take out your TurboTax fees and send the rest to you---and that bank has YOUR direct deposit information.   How can I see my TurboTax  fees?    https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k   What is Refund Processing Service?         Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC  (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. If you already e-filed a 2025 tax return using desktop software and that return was accepted, you cannot file another 2025 tax return using your SSN.

Thanks for the note, and yes I think it makes sense. Now my understanding was that for foreign pensions, one had to generate a 1099-R substitute and indicate that the revenue was not taxable, mentioning in the note section that the reason was the relevant section of the tax treaty with the US. This area is somewhat confusing and I really believe turbotax would provide a great service (as you suggested) in providing a well documented method to report such revenues as It must be a daily common situation.   Best regards,   Jerry

Thank you for your answer and it is correct for denominational pastors where pension boards produce the 1099r form.  But it doesn't work that way for pastors of independent churches.  The local church board designates the housing allowance but the investment vehicle (403b) and the 1099r is produced by the investment company and they show "taxable income" on 1099r.  They don't know any different.   The article you referred me to in essence is saying I have to enter info and produce the forms myself and I am unable to have Turbo tax populate the info I send them.  But actually all  Turbo Tax needs to do is ask a few more questions and with "independent Church status" and a couple other questions they could complete the form, knowing the 1099r form has to be changed from "taxable income" to a zero or some lesser amount depending on actual housing expenses.  Enjoyed using TurboTax except for this issue.  Thanks.
I pushed the help. I can’t find where it allows me to switch license. It just says should I use the interview or form method
How do I add another turbo standard to my original eight I bought a new license

Was the "difficulty" caused by entering a wrong or closed account for direct deposit?   When that happens, the refund is sent back to the IRS and then the IRS has to issue a paper check and mail it to you.   This might delay your refund for up to six weeks.  Watch your mailbox and open all mail even if it looks like junk mail.
One year it took over a week for NJ to go from pending to accepted.  Usually they take 48 hours.  This year I was a little under that.

DID YOU E-FILE?   Did you e-file?   Did you go through all three steps of the FILE section and click a big orange button that said “Transmit my returns now?”     When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted  or rejected your federal e-file.  If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.   Check your e-file status:   https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/    What does it say in your account?  Does it show that the return was accepted?   Or does it say something else---like "rejected," "printed," or "ready to mail?”
