After spending 45 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong, I sought help to find out its been a problem for years.  Please Turbo tax - list this in the instructions so your customers do not waste time on this problem.  Looks like this thread started in 2021.  I'm not creating 22 1099's off a spreadsheet to trick your system.   Please address this.  I like your product, but despise wasting time.   Thank you

No, Form 8594 cannot be e-filed by itself. You can print and mail the form to the IRS.    According to the IRS Instructions for Form 8594, it should be included with your complete tax return. Since this form is not supported for Form 1040 returns, you would need to print, sign and mail your entire return.

I know that in past years...folks who saved their file Directly to a USB flash drive would commonly end up with a corrupted file.  (Not sure that is still the case or not.)
Make sure that you are filing your son's separate return.  Go to Personal Info and verify that he is the taxpayer and the social security number is correct.

I have 3 NEC's.  Can I combine all the expenses and put it with one of the 3 Nec's or do I have to break up the expenses and put them on all 3 Nec's?
When you say go back and edit it are you saying I should do that in the forms view?  Asking because I'm unable to figure out how using the step-by-step method.

@Jusjas12 If TurboTax indicates on the screen with the mailbox that you have forms to mail, it it because there are certain forms in your return that are not supported for e-filing in TurboTax that either the IRS or a state tax agency requires to be mailed to them. Click on the button "Print Required Forms" and follow the instructions to print and mail them.   @klang4442 The IRS requires that taxpayers mail Form 8283 (Noncash Charitable Contributions)  if their total deduction for all noncash donations exceeds $500 in a single tax year. It is primarily required for donations of property, clothing, or household items valued over $500, or a single item valued over $5,000.    See the IRS Instructions for Form 8283 for more information. They state, "If you are electronically filing your tax return, you must include the Form 8283 data in the electronic submission. Enter all information requested by a line of the Form 8283 on the electronic Form 8283, except for the required signatures. Caution: You must attach the completed Form 8283 with all the required signatures to your tax return, either as a PDF attachment when electronically filed, or mailed to the IRS with Form 8453."

To fix the "excess tax" on your RMD, we first need to identify where the extra cost is coming from. Are you seeing a penalty on Form 5329, or has your overall tax bill simply jumped higher than expected?   If you see a penalty on Form 5329, the issue might be that TurboTax thinks you missed your RMD. This usually happens if a question was not answered correctly and can be resolved by reviewing the entries, or deleting both Form 5329 and Form 1099-R and re-entering the 1099-R.   Since your RMD is taxed as ordinary income, adding this to your tax return can trigger where up to 85% of your Social Security becomes taxable, or you are pushed into a higher tax bracket. Review your Form 1040, Line 6b. If your taxable Social Security jumped significantly after entering the RMD, the "excess tax" is actually coming from your benefits becoming taxable.   Sometimes, your RMD might be listed twice. Look at your Form 1040, Line 4b and 5b. If the number there is higher than the actual cash you received, delete the Form 1099-R and Form 5329 before re-entering your Form 1099-R.   In TurboTax Online, you can preview your Form 1040 by clicking on Tax Tools on left panel, then Tools, then View Tax Summary. Preview my 1040 will appear on the left panel. To delete Forms 1099-R and 5329 in TurboTax Online:    Go to Tax Tools on the right hand panel inside of TurboTax Click on the down arrow and scroll down to Tools Click on Tools and select Delete a form from the menu items that appear in the Tool Center Click on the trash can icon to the right of Form 1099, then 5329   To re-enter your Form 1099-R, ensuring that your RMD is correctly recorded so that no Form 5329 is triggered, follow these steps:   Return to Income, then click the down arrow to the right of Retirement Plans and Social Security Select IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) in the Federal Income section Click on +Add a 1099-R and input the 1099-R from which you took your entire RMD Click Continue as you complete the interview entries "Let's get more information about your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)", enter the amount of your RMD (no extras) that was due by December 31, 2025, Continue On the next screen, "How much of this distribution applied to your December 31, 2025 RMD?", select, "The entire distribution...", Continue Note: To prevent TurboTax from double-counting, only enter the RMD amount specific to this 1099-R. If you have multiple accounts, do not enter your combined total RMD here; the software will aggregate those totals for you later. When you reach, "Review your 1099-R summary, Continue (not the pencil) When you reach, "Let's go over any required minimum distributions (RMD)", Continue (not the pencil)

I ended up buying a used laptop that ran Windows 11 and did install TurboTax 2025.   I agree with you that the revised and new TurboTax interface that began in 2024, is not as easy to use as prior versions.  It is ackward and clumsy to use especially if you make a mistake.  It is definitely less intuitive compared to 2023 and earlier years. Sad, it seems like Intuit just started a new team to design the 2024 program.

Hello MonikaK1 - The question is not where to get the silver info. The question is where do we tell TurboTax that we have an ICHRA through our employer so that TurboTax doesn't automatically apply the premium tax credit? Or, where/how can we modify the forms so that we don't receive the premium tax credit??
Absolutely insane that desktop Turbotax users  either have to print out a form and mail it to the IRS, or re-type a bunch of info (SSNs, etc) into https://easy-extension.turbotax.intuit.com/ .
Turbo Tax keeps changing my son's social security number on his W2s to mine. Who can I talk to about this?
Is it okay to e-file my taxes if I delete this form?  I am having the same error message and cannot link anything to the Return Document for my dependant.  Thank you
