Yes, you should file a corrected W-2c to spell your surname correctly.
The IRS and Social Security Administration (SSA) use the Employer Identification Number (EIN) and the Name to match records (this "mismatch" may result in automated notices later).
File Form W-2c (Corrected Wage and Tax Statement) and Form W-3c (the transmittal form that acts as a cover sheet for the W-2c).
You only need to fill out the identifying information and the "Employer Name" section (since wages & withholding are correct, leave the "Previous Amount" and "Correct Amount" columns for those boxes blank or enter zeros as instructed.).
No, your nanny does not need to file an amended return (1040-X).
An amened return is required when there is a change to the tax liability.. since her wages and withholdings are exactly the same, she does not need to amend.
Make sure to give her a copy of the W-2c for her records. If the IRS ever questioned why her W-2 had a typo, she has the "receipt" showing it was corrected.
Open your return.
In the Federal section where you entered your Nanny's info, Look for the W-2/W-3 or Household Employee section.
Many versions of TurboTax allow you to "Prepare W-2c" if you’ve already finished the originals.
If not, you may need to go to the IRS.gov website, search for "Form W-2c," and use their fillable PDF.

You can wait a few weeks to see if you get a notice from Idaho saying they adjusted your tax return. It is possible they will adjust it automatically when they process it if the change is something they can detect. If so they would send you a refund payment. If you don't hear from them, then you can file the amended return.

Going through the percentage screen, delete any numbers in the percentage/days worked fields, and hit "Continue." Sometimes clearing the fields allows the software to recognize the section is no longer active.
The tax forms go to the IRS, not the program. If your return is correct, it is not necessary. If it bothers you or your return is not correct, delete the w2. If you do delete the w2, follow these steps:
Online version:
Log out of your return and try one or more of the following:
Don't use Internet Explorer.
Clear cache and cookies,
Sign in using a different browser.
Sign in using a different device.
Log back into your return.
Enter the information again.
Desktop version:
Save your return while closing the program.
Update the program
Open
Enter the information again.

No help. Received an email to review messages, no expert assigned, no way to review the "message" from my expert...very frustrated and disappointed in TurboTax, your customer service and any ability to fix my issues. John (tax expert) I spoke to on the phone tried last night and I almost think the message may be from him. No way to verify I cannot get to messages.

Thanks for clarifying that. As a volunteer preparer we are seeing more brokerage statements this year reporting income from U.S. Government Obligations for funds that pay only Capital Gains during the year. It seems strange that they would report a % for USGO when they did not pay a dividend all year.

@AnnHW , assuming you are legal representative of the decedent,
(a) his final tax return should cover the all incomes in his name for the calendar year 2025. While it is true that the estate came into being post the passing of the decedent, the informational forms like 1099s will probably all have his SSN and so it is correct to include all these in his final return.
(b) sale of assets that are done by the Estate , with its own tax id ( EIN ) should be generally recognized in the tax return of the estate or sometimes passed / taxed at the inheritor level. Depends on the size of the estate and /or plans of the estate/ inheritors.
(c) you probably also have to file a form 1310, as the representative, to receive any tax refunds ( in the name of the decedent), unless there is a spouse involved. If there is a spouse, then he/she still can file MFJ
Is there more one of us can do for you ?

No, the safer option is the accurate one. As an international student, you did have leases over 183 days in CT. Report all income to CT and claim a credit for the income also taxed by CA. The answers above by @MaryK4 explained well how CT will give you a credit for the CA tax and ends with @DaveF1006 and I agreeing with your original post - CT resident and CA nonresident. In addition, you get to claim the property tax credit on your car.

I have previously tried all of your suggestions and they do not work. There is clearly a glitch in the software. I have deleted and reentered the data 3-4 times with no changes to the output. There is only one home mortgage loan. There was no refinancing and there is no second loan. Going to “Forms” and checking the “No” box for the limitation allows us to itemize the interest expense but then we cannot file. We’re between a rock and a hard place. If the limitation box is checked “Yes”, we do not get to itemize the mortgage interest expense. If we check the box “No”, we cannot efiile and will have to paper file.

for your very last question, see instructions for Form 8606 (or Pub 590) https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i8606.pdf p3 - "For purposes of these instructions, a traditional IRA is any IRA that isn’t a Roth IRA." I don't think you will find mention of "Rollover IRA" in IRS instructions it's really just a brokerage label
