Hello — I’m reporting a software issue in TurboTax Deluxe (desktop/web).
While entering investment income, I entered a 1099-DIV (from a MyRaceHorse investment liquidation). After that, the Investments section became locked in a “Let’s finish pulling in your investment income” screen.
There was no visible option to cancel, skip, or choose manual entry. I was unable to access the 1099-B section to manually enter the sale.
I attempted the following:
Logged out and back in
Used Search → “Jump to 1099-B”
Navigated through Wages & Income multiple ways
Tried to delete forms (none existed yet)
The system continued to force the import workflow with no exit, effectively blocking manual entry of a valid transaction.
As a result, I had to use a workaround by entering the loss as “Other reportable income (negative)” instead of reporting it correctly as a capital loss on Schedule D.
This appears to be a UI/workflow bug where initiating or triggering the investment import flow prevents manual entry and provides no way to exit.
Please escalate this as a product issue. It would be helpful to have:
A visible “Skip import / Enter manually” option at all times
A way to reset or exit the investment import workflow
Thank you.

My question is I purchased the Turbo Tax Home and Bus at the store. Tried to use it on my IPad and it would not download. Found out it can not be used on IPad. Then I logged in and started using online version. Btw it costs 2 times more to use the online version. I now have access to a windows based computer. Pretty sure I will be able to download and open. Can I still use my login and account to use the downloaded version without paying the outlandish cloud based version?

TurboTax does not have the ability to provide exact dates for when the California tax refund will arrive for 2026 e-file or the specific date your TurboTax refund portion is sent to your bank.
The timing of the state tax refund depends on the California Franchise Tax Board processing time. TurboTax sends your portion of any TurboTax refund advance or refund processing fees according to their payment schedule, usually shortly after your return is accepted. For the most accurate details, monitor your bank account for the deposit and check the California state refund status through their official channels directly in TurboTax where available.

Whether he owed or got a refund for federal is not relevant as they are totally processed separately by two different entities.
However, you can respond to the adjustment letter with a statement that says that you disagree and the return was correct as transmitted and reference exemption Note on line 9 If someone else can claim you as a dependent, check box 9e, enter 0 on line 9a and enter $1,500 on line 9e, which is what was done.
On the letter you received, you have been given a way to respond. Sometimes you can just call the number on the form.

Thank you Patricia. Before sending you a diagnostic file, I think I will try deleting the entire k-1 and re-entering all my numbers from that particular k-1 and see if the asset sale goes away.

TurboTax does not receive any kind of tax refund, federal or state.
Did you e-file your state tax return and was it accepted? Only the IRS and your State control when and if a Federal or State tax refund is Approved and Issued.
You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".
After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.
Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund. Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.
To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product.
If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...

The IRS/States is currently processing a high volume of e-filed returns, so it can take several days for your payments to go through. The IRS/States may debit the payment after the deadline. Also, it can take the banks another few days to post the debit to your account. As long as you filed you return or extension on or before April 15, 2026, and you selected April 15, 2026, or earlier as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment. If you don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after their return has been accepted, call the IRS e-file Payment Services at 888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency.
How do I contact my state Department of Revenue?

Rick - I want to thank you for your response. I just want to take a moment to clarify it. I have the stepped up basis from the date of death. For example, let's assume $6,000 for that. Every one of the K1s has a separate schedule with figures and I'm including an example on each: A) Initial Basis $5,000 B) Cumulative Adjustment to Basis. Negative $200 C) Cost Basis $4800 Now let's assume the sale proceeds were $5,500. I think what you are recommending I do is take my stepped-up basis of $6000 and subtract the k1 basis adjustment (B) and use a basis for $5,800. Using this would result in a loss of $300 but this would just be entered on the Partnership inputs in Turbo Tax. For the 1099-B section, I think you're saying to input a basis equal to the sales proceeds with a zero gain/loss. I am already entering the k1 schedule value for "gain recapture as ordinary income" (which is also box 20AB on the K1) so I think I'm good there. I do have a couple of related questions: 1) In the partnership section, TurboTax asks me to input the capital account information. This is on the K1 but should the "capital contributed" input be set equal to the adjusted basis above? If so would I need to adjust the "withdrawals and distributions" and "current year net income" inputs on that same screen? 2) Turbo Tax asks for purchase dates and sales dates. Should the purchase date input be adjusted in any way because this is inherited? I am indicating on another input screen that the owner died and the interest was transferred. Thanks!

Based on the information you shared, I believe that you tried to get an IP PIN for your adopted son. However, you were unsuccessful due to there being information in the IRS system contradicting his custodial parents. But, you and your spouse are his parents and there is not a custodial issue in question.
Filing Form 8332 is not the action to take to get the situation corrected because it is meant to be used when parents are not claiming a dependent on a joint tax return but they share custody of their child.
Your best course of action may be to provide the IRS with a copy of the adoption papers for your son so that the information in the IRS system can be updated. The recommendation is that you contact the IRS Taxpayer Advocate for assistance. You can explain the situation and how the discrepancy was discovered and they will be able to advise you and help to get it fixed. You should ask about getting assistance with an 'IRS System Issue'.
Use the following links to get started with contacting the Taxpayer Advocate and to learn more:

Are you sure you are not in the 2024 version? The SALT tax is $40,000 in the 2025 version of TurboTax. In the 2025 version the only way you should see a $10,000 SALT limit is if your income was $600,000 Otherwise, it would be $40,000.
Note: If married filing separately and your SALT limit starts at $20,000 then you would see a phase out starting at $250,000.

The N could stand for neutral or normal or no. Possibly neutral due to the fact that since you did not have a loss, it is not relavant. As you noted, it is a moot point since you operated at a profit, however, the way to get the actual answer and have it changed if it does stand for No would be to contact the IRS directly
You can also look at previous year transcripts to see what they say.

Yes. You should amend your return if something is not correct on it. No. TurboTax will not see that you overpaid in 2025 and give you a credit for 2026. In order for you to have a credit for 2026, the state has to have the forms and review your return. The state is the one that decides if you really get the refund of not. TurboTax simply enters the information you provide and does the calculations for on the forms and then transmits the forms to the IRS and the state.
So in order for the $254 refund to be real, the form actually has to be sent to the state.

You will need to amend your return.
If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
Select your product below and follow the instructions.
