On your Canadian tax return, you can claim donations to both Canadian & US charities. You can only claim US donations if you have US income, though.

Using TT desktop on Mac that is up to date. I have run into an issue with a 2025 WI state income tax return. Entering the property tax paid (~$10,000) for "School Property Tax Credit" in the "EasyStep" mode does not seem populate line 16b on the WI state income tax return in the Form 1, and therefore the $300 tax credit is missing. Looking in the "Forms" mode, the property tax paid does populate in the "Individual Tax Credits Smart Worksheet", but just below that section, the actual Line 16b "Property taxes paid on home in 2025" and "Find credit from table" are blank. I have tried deleting and reentering the values in the "EasyStep" mode but that does nothing. The only way I can get this to work is to override the values in Forms. Looking back at prior tax returns done through TT are not missing this tax credit. Is this a bug or am I missing something? Taxes have already been filed so I am thinking I may have to amend the return.

Please clarify why you think this is wrong? You are getting a federal refund of $29 and believe you should be getting more? If so, why do you think you should be getting more back? Is this your first year filing? Did your situation change from last year? Did you double check all of your entries? Did you have a child that turned 17?

After you completed entry of the SSA-1099 for the Social Security benefits received in 2025, there was a following screen asking you if you lived in any of the foreign countries listed. If you selected Yes or skipped over this screen, the TurboTax program would not have calculated any taxes on your Social Security benefits entered on the Form 1040 Line 6a. Resulting in a 0 being entered on Form 1040 Line 6b.

I have a problem with my refund coming back short by $1483/=. TurboTax gave a 0 taxable amount for join filing seniors where the total benefit was around $48,852/= IRS has a worksheet which comes up with 55% as taxable income after taking into account Qualified dividend + IRA distribution (RMD) + capital gain etc which are considered for arriving at the Taxable Social Security Benefit. Something wrong with the Turbo Tax tool? I am not sure. I am trying to dig into more information from IRS on how they came up with that number. Anyone who faced a similar situation? I have been on hold with the IRS for almost 2 hrs and the line got disconnected. Do they sent any documentation on how they came up with this? Any help would be appreciated.

I put the reason why I didn't file in the question. Not sure what you mean by "where." That's actually MY question as the IRS wanted to know my filing for 2024 and it was 0 because I didn't file (fine by law). But my 2026 taxes won't accept it.

you may have to create a dummy ssn for payer's TIN on th 1099-SA
I also do not see how can I add “Filed pursuant to Section 301.9100-2” to the top of 1040-X form to request 6 months extension. TurboTax is lame in this regard becuae it doesn't provide for this. so you will have to print out your amended return and write it at the top of the 1040-X. Mail your return using a tracking service.

I know the group that created GiveTrackSave, and it's way better. Yeah, I'm biased for sure. I won't compare it with ItsDeductible since there is no comparison.
