Here's how you can fix it:
Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.
Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.
Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.
Additional reject instruction here.

TurboTax may prepare your School District return, but you'll need to mail it in to the proper agency. The program doesn't file it for you.

Did you enter Social Security benefits reported to you on a SSA-1099? If so, go back through the SS entry screen and the following screen will ask if you lived in any of the foreign countries listed. Answer NO. After that the box for "lived in the US for more than half of 2025" will be checked.
To enter Social Security benefits reported on form SSA-1099
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business) Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business) Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown) Scroll down to Retirement Plans and Social Security On Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099), click the start or update button

The data-sharing consent forms will be located in Step 3, of the last process of the Review and File Section. Some documents are required to be signed if you want to file electronically. See the steps below to get to that screen:
From your TurboTax Online home screen select Review and File, and then click on Finish and File.
You will see 3 Steps to complete your e-filling process. Share consents are located within Step 3.
Here are some other steps you can take to change your data sharing permissions:
Email Privacy Team: Send an email to privacy@intuit.com stating: "I am revoking my consent for Intuit to use or disclose my tax return information for any purpose other than the preparation and filing of my tax return".
Intuit Account Manager: Sign in to your account, select Data Privacy, and toggle off "Data used for Intuit products" or "Personalized experiences".
Household Data Sharing: In the Turbo app or web, go to View Profile, click or tap the person under "Household," and select Revoke access.

There are various reasons that would cause the option to be not available. Now you will not have to pay $40 extra fee for using this option.

Tax Tools doesn't let me edit manually, it's not checkable. Is it because I'm filing head of household?

My GOD! that worked! I checked that someone else is claiming him and his refunds went down so I presume it worked. Now how do I send it. Do I go through the process to file it again? Now there is a different challenge. I mailed in his state return from the previous form and he did not owe. Now that I can claim him He now owes the state of IL IRS $33. Should I just print it again and send the check for the $33? I do not want to efile it because the state costs $25 to efile. Or do I wait for the state to contact him? I feel like I am almost at the end of this tunnel.
