Here is an FAQ: How do I print and mail my return in TurboTax Online?
I have tried and the IRS.gov site keeps freezing up or saying it's unavailable right now, which is why I've come here.
Here's some info on How to Fix a Rejected Return.   @kleckapaul

The IRS uses your prior year AGI to combat fraud. Make sure you take into account the information below.   You can find your 2024 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) by: Looking at line 11 on page 1 of your 2024 Form 1040 Requesting a transcript of your 2024 tax return from the IRS. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript Please click on this TurboTax article for more information.    Check these items as well to ensure you have the correct number.  If you:  Filed late last year after mid-November or your return was processed after that time—try entering 0. Amended your return last year—make sure you’re using the AGI from your original return, not the amended one. (If you only have a 1040X form, it’s on line 1, column A). Rounded your AGI to the nearest dollar—be sure to round up when it’s 50 cents or more and down when it’s 49 cents or less. Filed with your spouse last year—you and your spouse have the same 2024 AGI. (Don’t split the AGI amount or enter  0  for one of you).   Time-saving Tip: If what you entered is correct and you continue to get a reject, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return.    This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

Thank you for investigating this.  It sounds like you agree that this is a bug in TurboTax.  I have already filed an extension, so I have no rush to file my return (I have until Oct 15).  Is there a chance this bug could be fixed within the next 6 months (before Oct 15)?   I hope that this problem can eventually get fixed by the development team, because even if I override the QBI value on my Idaho return and file a paper copy of the return, I'll have the exact same problem next year (and the years after that), unless the root cause of the problem is determined and fixed.

Let's look for 3rd year issues: 5a is  blank or zero is good 5b is the amount being claimed this year. 8915 FEMA number must match original 8915 must be 1/3 of original amount 8915 covid, line C blank Honestly, switching from MFJ to HOH may be causing the rejection with the new  revised 8915 this year. Thankfully, this is the 3rd year for you and you are done. If none of the above are the issue, you will need to mail it in. I think the new 8915 this year may be your issue. I don't know how the IRS is programmed to match them up. If they used 2023, when it started and is looking at filing status, maybe that is the culprit. If they are using 2024, yours should go through. I would expect first year to be the one to match, honestly, no idea what the IRS has done or is doing.   If you mail, be sure to sign your return, mail it certified with no signature required by IRS receiver.

The dash is part of the formatting for all TINs that are from entities (rather than individuals).  I recommend deleting the 1099R and re-entering it manually (particularly if it was imported initially) as this will sometimes clear this error. Once this is done, try retransmitting the return.  The dash that the program enters will not cause a rejection, but sometimes there is an extra space or something odd that happens if a document is formatted that can cause the system to read it incorrectly.  If this doesn't resolve the issue, then it lies somewhere in the database that houses the payer tax identification numbers and the return will need to be printed and mailed.  @krconn

Hi,  I was charged the $69.00 to have my state return transmitted with the federal return. The state return could not be transmitted but my account was still charged the$69.00. Can you please credit this back to my account. Also will the state be notified by TurboTax that you were unable to transmit the return and you notified me that I will have to print it out and mail in, which will now be filed late. Thank you,

The IRS/States is currently processing a high volume of e-filed returns, so it can take several days for your payments to go through.  The IRS/States may debit the payment after the deadline. Also, it can take the banks another few days to post the debit to your account. As long as you filed you return or extension on or before April 15, 2026, and you selected April 15, 2026, or earlier as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment. If you don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after their return has been accepted,  call the IRS e-file Payment Services at 888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency.   How do I contact my state Department of Revenue?

If TurboTax is stuck at the final stages, try these steps:   Clear cache and cookies  Log out of TurboTax, restart your device, and log and back in Use a different browser (e.g., switch from Chrome to Edge). Try a different time of day when there may be lower "traffic" As we approach the filing deadline, there is higher server traffic, which can significantly impact the tax filing process by causing system slowdowns, application errors, and potential delays in submission for both individuals and tax professionals.
Had to buy different clothing for work. Can that be deducted as a business expense?

You should wait until your filed return is processed and you have your refund if applicable before you do the amendment.   To amend your 2024 tax return, log into your current TurboTax account and you will find an option to prepare an amended return. Choose the year you want to amend and follow the instructions. What you will do is update your return to add missing information or make changes to information you entered. Then, include a description of your changes. TurboTax will calculate an additional refund or tax due if applicable and you will then submit the amended return and pay any tax due or wait for a refund.
We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?
