When stock exercise income is reported in Box 1 of your W-2, it reflects ordinary income already included in wages. The broker's 1099-B reports the stock sale, but often shows no or incomplete cost basis. To prevent double reporting in TurboTax Online, enter your W-2 as given, then enter your 1099-B. When asked if the sales include employee stock options, say Yes. TurboTax will help adjust the 1099-B entry to exclude the income portion already reported on your W-2. Because the sale on the 1099-B may occur later due to transaction settlement timing, the gain or loss reported there is often minimal. Review any supplemental statement from your broker carefully; it usually provides adjusted basis information that accounts for income included in your W-2. Using this basis adjustment ensures you only report gain or loss beyond what was included as wages, avoiding duplication. This approach addresses the timing and basis complexities common in employee stock option exercises to help ensure accurate tax reporting.

I don't know how it works at your particular wholesale club. But here's a common scenario: After you purchased a card in the aisle at Sam's, then after paying did you take the card and receipt to a desk and get the product with the license activation code? They usually have to get it out of a room/closet. We have seen people pay for the product then leave the store without picking up the code. Do you have any question about downloading and installing your product? You made a couple of statements but haven't really asked anything or mentioned any issue. The license code is a 16-digit alphanumeric code in this format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. This is a PUBLIC Internet forum, so do NOT post it here. If you need help with downloading, installing, or activating, we need to be sure what version of TurboTax you bought-- was it for Online or desktop? Sam's sells license codes for desktop TurboTax and for Online TurboTax. The 2 versions are activated through different methods. Here's what Sams sells: Desktop Deluxe Desktop Deluxe Federal + State Desktop Premier Desktop Home and Business Desktop Business (corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts) Online TurboTax: Individuals & Homeowners (Online Deluxe) Online TurboTax: Investors & Self-Employed (Online Premium.)

TurboTax does not know if you paid your state tax. The confirmation of your state tax payment is the payment record or statement from your bank account or credit card, depending on how you paid the tax.
Some states allow payment by direct debit, but most do not. If you specified payment by direct debit when you filed your state tax return, all TurboTax does is send your bank account information to the state. The state withdraws the payment from your bank account. TurboTax does not get any information about whether the payment was actually made.

I was going through the steps to file and took the option to have the "Expert Final Review". The app gave me the option to have someone call me, text me, or skip for now. I chose to skip for now because I didn't have the time to talk with someone right then. I now have the time, but I'm having trouble figuring out how I get ahold of someone. Anytime I do a search for the expert review, it comes up with the full service stuff for $200-$300 which isn't what I'm looking for. How do I get the review that I paid for?

So after grouping the donations with some being over $500 and listing them as household items and following the same as in years past, Turbo tax is forcing me to enter the following on the worksheets for each of the grouped donations that totaled over $500. I bypassed this during the smart check since the actual form filed with IRS matches last year. However, turbotax will not process my efile and instead tells me if I don't add information I can mail in my taxes. 1. Date Donated Property was acquired 2. How Donated Property was acquired 3. Cost/adjusted basis If I use deductible duck will I still have these same issues and not be able to efile? I have been using a different 3rd party app to record donations and FMV. Then I manually enter the grouped donations, but run into this issue and contemplating why TT would be forcing me to print and MAIL returns in the year 2026!!

No, don't let TurboTax create a business. This is triggered by the way certain questions are answered. I suggest you delete the 1099-MISC you have entered, and anything that was created in the self-employment section and start fresh. Here is how to report the 1099-MISC:
Navigate to Federal > Income > Wages & Income Summary > Other Common Income> Form 1099-MISC > Start or Revisit
Enter the 1099-MISC as printed, Continue
Describe the reason for this 1099-MISC: "Paid Medical Leave" or similar.
Select None of these uncommon situations apply, then continue
Select No, it didn’t involve work that's like your main job and continue
The next screen asks how often you get income from this. Select only the year of this specific 1099-MISC, 2025.
Next, select No, it didn't involve the intent to earn money
You can check this in TurboTax Online by navigating to Tax Tools on the left of your screen, choose Tools, then View Tax Summary. On the left of the screen, select Preview my 1040, then verify the amount is included on Schedule 1, Line 8z "Other Income."

TurboTax calculates basis in case the distribution was not qualified. Since it doesn't know for certain you are finished with the interview, it’s trying to fill out Form 8606 in the background.
Since you don't have the original records from 20 years ago, you can enter the full distribution amount ($9,256.20) as the total contributions prior to 2025. By telling TurboTax the basis/contributions are equal to the amount she took out, the software sees $0 in taxable earnings. Since the distribution is qualified anyway, this results in the correct tax treatment ($0 tax) without requiring you to hunt for decades-old bank statements.

Not sure your response can help, but I'll give you more info. You are correct, I entered dates in itsdeductible - no different than this year with deductible duck You are correct, I purchased the items through out my life. You are correct, these clothes and household items didn't appreciate in value. Last year I used itsdeductible to record, value, and import goodwill donations of multiple trips, some of which were higher and some lower than $500 This year I had to purchase a separate software to record the dates, and value the items. I entered these into turbo tax as grouped items by dontation date as you and other experts have reccommended. But this year, without itsdeductible I am not able to efile and need to print and mail my returns because TT is treating these group donations differently than it did when I used itsdeductible. Why is that and what would you recommend in order to efile.

if the standard deduction exceeds your itemized deductions, TurboTax should use this and not submit Schedule A which means there's no need to delete the itemized deductions info.

I'm not sure what you mean by "regular overtime." If you were paid for overtime at the same hourly rate as your regular pay, you are not eligible for the deduction for overtime. The deduction for overtime is only for the additional "half" rate when you are paid time and a half, or more, for overtime. For example, if your regular pay is $20 per hour and you are paid $30 per hour (time and a half) for overtime, you can deduct only the extra $10 per hour. There is no deduction for the basic $20 per hour regular rate, even if it's for overtime.
