The state owes you at a minimum an explanation for why the refund was changed. The letter should explain what happened and why. If it doesn't, it likely provides a procedure to request a deeper explanation. If it takes appealing the change to get an explanation, then I guess that's the path you will have to take.

The issue you are encountering using TurboTax Online for a previous asset is unfortunately tied to the SDA error you've seen in Final Review. Because the 50% SDA is being disallowed, your depreciable basis is incorrect when entering the original data.
To fix this, when asked to Confirm Your Prior Depreciation, enter the total of the SDA you took in the first year ($63,202) and the prior depreciation that has been reported for the property ($37,631). With an original cost of $126,404, this should result in a depreciation deduction of $2,299 for 2025.

Sometimes, you may have meant to add an expense in and then changed your mind. Here is how you can remove the error.
Sign in to TurboTax
Select Federal
Select Income & Expenses
Scroll to Self‑Employment (Schedule C)
Click Edit/Add next to your business
Open the Expenses section
Click Start / Edit next to Other Common Business Expenses
Go to “Other Miscellaneous Expenses”
Scroll all the way down to the bottom
Find Other Miscellaneous Expenses Click Start / Edit
This is the screen TurboTax keeps looping you back to. TurboTax will show a list of your “Other” expenses. You are looking for any of these issues:
A line with an amount but no description
A line with a description but no amount
A line you accidentally created by clicking “Add another expense.”
TurboTax will not let you continue until every line is complete. If there is no miscellaneous to report, you may completely remove the information in this section.

If the link worked as designed, I wouldn't need to see how to fix the obvious software glitch. This is so goofy and expect better from Turbo Tax

If you have a PC try pressing Cntr and the minus sign to make your screen smaller.

It happened to me also but trying to get a refund for fees paid from Turbo Tax seems impossible.

Thank you, @Vanessa A ! Super helpful. Just one more clarification - would 2025 be still considered under first year choice given we did live in US before 2022, and filed taxes as residents then?

They say I can appeal this, but if there is a good explanation, I'd rather not do so.

I received a notice from the IRS that my 2025 tax return was being amended due to a tax calculation error. I checked all the Turbo Tax work sheets to see if I made an error entering anything. I did not find any. The notice provided guidance to IRS Publication 915 regarding federal income tax rules for Social Security. Turbo Tax calculated my taxable Social Security incorrectly based on the 915-rule stating that my SSA may be taxable if my gross income exceeds $32,000 for married filing jointly. I have been an Intuit customer for about 15 years. We pay for this service, I expected Turbotax to reach out to customers and provide feedback on this error. We are Waiting on an official statement or explanation for this software tax error from Turbotax.

You are not alone. Mine have been pending for 5 weeks. Meanwhile, my son received his refund in 6 days. Makes zero sense, and you can't get a straight answer. My state taxes have never taken this long. I had to file in IN, as well, and had no issue and quick refund.

Hello! I'm filing at the moment, and I'm quite confused regarding my situation. Last year, I worked in Virginia until 10/15/2025 (which is when I became unemployed for the rest of the year). I lived in Virginia until 09/01/2025, after which I moved to Washington DC for the rest of 2025. My W-2 from my last workplace mainly includes information for Washington DC. I received a W-2 sheet with my old Virginia address, but every box is blank except for stage wages and state income. For the section in filing titled "Subtractions from federal income, part-year," I am asked my "income received while residing outside DC." Would I fill that with my state wages sections from my VA W-2? I'm also quite confused as to what I should be entering for the section titled "Virginia Information" which immediately follows that. It asks for my Double-Taxed Income and Tax Paid to Virginia on Double-Taxed Income. Would those sections be section 16 and 17 from my VA W-2, if so then what would I actually be inputting for the previous section? I appreciate any help and insight, especially if the language can be in the broadest, simplest to understand terms! This stuff sure is complicated.
