There are a couple likely reasons your Child Tax Credit (CTC) didn’t show on the filed return, even though both kids “qualified” in the interview:   1) The nonrefundable CTC phases out starting at MAGI: $200,000 (single/HOH) or $400,000 (MFJ). If your MAGI is above the threshold, the credit is reduced, possibly to zero. 2) Not all of the CTC is refundable, meaning f your tax after other credits was already $0, the nonrefundable portion won’t show. The refundable part (Additional Child Tax Credit, ACTC) is up to $1,600 per child for 2025, but only if you have earned income above the threshold and meet other limits.  3) There may have been information regarding the dependents that disqualified them: Not your dependent on the return (another parent claimed them). Did not live with you more than half the year (exceptions apply for school/temporary absences). No SSN/invalid SSN 4)  If you had other things that reduced tax, like withholding, EIC, education credits, saver’s credit, residential energy credits, etc., your tax may have already been reduced and the CTC benefits may have been lost.   Refer to your 1040 and look at Form 8812 to see how it was calculated.

Column B of Form 1095-A asks you to enter the second lowest cost Silver plan (SLCSP) premium amounts. To find the second lowest cost Silver plan premium amounts for you, use this tool at Healthcare.gov. The software won't accept zeroes in Column B.   See this help article and this tax tips article for instructions on entering Form 1095-A.

Ok, I got it that if the amount is the same then 5a can be rightfully be empty.   Yes, both prior years have 1040 5b taxable amounts in them.   All these conversions have been from 2 different 401K accounts to the same ROTH IRA accounts.  Sorry, my response was not correctly stated.

Real property management status depends on your involvement in rental real estate activities. Spending over 750 hours on rehab work in 2025 indicates substantial participation. Key points: 1. If you spend more than 750 hours on real estate activities and they constitute a majority of your personal services, you could qualify as a real estate professional. 2. Being a real estate professional lets you treat rental real estate losses as non-passive. 3. Rehab work on a non-primary residence used as a rental or investment property may count toward this status. 4. Doing most work yourself supports active management status. Be aware that the IRS might disallow this deduction if you hold a full-time job, as you may not qualify as a real estate professional.   See IRS Pub 925 for more information.

Generally, you can log off your TurboTax session and then shut down any devices that have had an active TurboTax session (e.g., a PC and a phone).   If you are concerned that someone else may be able to access your account, change your password.   See this TurboTax Support page for a list of articles on security issues.   This article includes steps to take if you suspect tax-related identity theft.   @AprilMCastle  @Xniteeknightx

2025 Deluxe  Having same issue as described above. can't get back into the state step by step. After starting state again, it goes directly from editing the state (MN) button to 'your Minnesota Bottom Line' summary. (I have a state penalty which I'm trying to resolve with actual income and tax data)   I have the updates installed to MN from 3/04/26.    PS. It seems the summary Overpayment and Net don't reflect the actual refund. Penalty is subtracted twice.

My W2 Box 12W has a $$ amount, I contributed, not my employer.     In the deduction section it asked for any 5498-SA, and said I should enter it there.   Which I did.    If I have a high deductable health care plan, I don't think I should have (said don't do if you have a cafeteria plan, which I think is the same)     Is this correct?      If so, do I need to file amended return and most likely owe more money?    I just realized I made the same mistake on 2024 as well.   Should I amend that, if so?
This is horrible! We donate many items every year.  The system was very helpful before.  Now not very user friendly and very time consuming.

I have similar issue, I was able to populate and prepare 1040X for 2024 but when I tried to transmit, I got a message saying "Your Transmission Didn't Go Through, TurboTax was unable to send your return to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center, for the following reason: Transmission failed: The Intuit Electronic Filing Center is closed for the 2024 Personal Income Tax filing season. Nov 15, 2025 was the last day to file returns electronically. Please file your return(s) through the mail......", also when I was trying to transmit, I also got message saying the signature date needs to be between 1/1/2025-12/31/2025.  I am using Mac desktop turbotax 2024 and I read somewhere I should be able to e-file amended 2024 federal return as long as the original return was filed through turbotax e-filing which I did. I am aware that I can mail this return but the return is massive and I strongly prefer e-filing, any way I can still e-file 2024 1040X in 2026?

Why doesn't that transfer to Line 12e on the 1040? I compared filing standard vs. itemized and the refund is exactly the same. Why?

@h2o-color   Is it trying to charge  you?  You may have u pgraded to a paid version.  To go back to a lower version or the Free Edition you can try to clear and start over https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/using-turbotax/help/how-do-i-clear-and-start-over-in-turbotax-online/00/26444 If you started your tax return in TurboTax Free Edition (Form 1040 with limited credits; roughly 37% of taxpayers qualify), you won't need to clear and start over. You can select Switch to Free Edition instead. In the Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now.  Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition? https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/upgrading/help/why-do-i-have-to-upgrade-from-free-edition/00/26379 Or try the IRS Free File program https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free A couple reasons it could be saying you need to upgrade…. You might be seeing this because of form 8959, that goes to Schedule 2. The amount of Medicare taxes withheld in W2 box 6 is not exactly 1.45% of the Medicare wages in box 5, due to rounding. I read a post that said to try leaving the cents off of the Medicare tax on your W2 box 6. Box 6 has to be exactly 1.45% of box 5 or less. If it is saying you need Schedule 3 and can't use the Free Edition it might be giving you the Retirement Savings Credit. You can say you are a student to decline the credit. You must answer Yes when asked in the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit section if your were a full-time student. The answer to this same question asked in the personal-information section is not the answer that is used.

Is there a way to make turbotax show me how the value for this addition was calculated? I followed it back to the "Other Adds" form, but the value I found there has no details.   I believe that this value is wrong, based on the information that I see in my 1099-INT/DIV forms (1099-DIV line 12 and 1099-INT line 8, for allocation of these to states other than OR). But the interview says that this value has been entered by TT for me, so it's supposed to be right.   I think it might have been calculated earlier when I hadn't entered all my 1099's, but hasn't been updated correctly with the latest... but this is something I'd expect the software to catch and flag (it claims no errors on my return)... but it isn't doing so.

The error could be due to missing information, the name has too many characters, or invalid characters.  The name that you enter on the return, should match the information on your Social Security card, but if your name is too long, then try to enter it as close as it is on your Social Security Card.  To correct your name on your return, go back to the Personal Info section of your return.     If TurboTax is not letting you continue, you can try the following: Go out of your program and go back in. Clear your cache and cookies. Try a different Web Browser. If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates". If you have any additional questions or information regarding this please return to TurboTax Community and we would be glad to help.
@mlkddk1    I added some more information to my answer above concerning some additional limits with TurboTax online and desktop products in regard to the number of state returns.

That's right for 5a to be empty if it is the same amount as 5b.     The IRS says.... If your pension or annuity is fully taxable, enter the total pension or annuity payments (from Form(s) 1099-R, box 1) on line 5b; don’t make an entry on line 5a.   See IRS 1040 Instructions for line 5 page 28 first paragraph middle column https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf   Thought of a couple other questions I wanted to ask you.  Did the prior years have taxable amounts on line 5b?     And what did the Roth conversion come from and go to?  Was it from a regular 401k into a ROTH 401k or a ROTH IRA?     Oh and somewhere above you said  "regular ROTH"  What do you mean regular?  There is not a "regular" ROTH.    A regular account is usually the pre -tax 401k account or a Traditional deductible IRA account.

To remove HSA contributions entered in error for 2025, go to the Federal section in TurboTax, then select Deductions & Credits. Next: 1. Find the section for Health Savings Accounts (HSA). 2. Select Start or Revisit next to HSA. 3. Review the entries and delete or correct any contribution amounts for 2025. 4. Save your changes to update your return. This will remove the mistaken HSA contribution data while preserving any prior year HSA balances you have from 2024.
