TurboTax takes me all the way through amending my return after changing my dependency status in personal info. When I get to "Fix" right before e-filing the amended return, it says I have to delete the 1095-A because that will be part of my parents' return. Then it shows a blank 1095-A and it cannot be edited or deleted. Going to Tax Forms and Delete Forms in TurboTax doesn't help because no 1095 A is listed. How can I complete the amended return.

I duplicated what you explained and the program generated two form 7206's and deducted the total health insurance. I suggest you revisit your K-1 entries and on the screen that says Self-employed health insurance, make sure you entered Medicare wages that were equal to or more than the health insurance premiums paid.

Form 709 is not ever part of an income tax return. TurboTax provides software and forms for income tax returns, not for other kind of taxes or forms that are not part of an income tax return.
Gifts given to family members, friends or other individuals are not deductible. Gifts received are not taxable to the person who received the gift, and are not entered on a tax return.
If your gift exceeds the yearly limit ($19,000 per individual) imposed by the gift tax rules, then you will need to complete a Form 709 gift tax form and send it to the IRS, although it is very unlikely that you will owe any tax.
TurboTax does not support Form 709. It is not an income tax form and would not be included as part of an income tax return.

I agree with the other reply here that says you'll need to probably depreciate it. And unfortunately, HVAC equipment is depreciated on the same schedule as things like the structure of the property, which is 27.5 years for a long-term rental or 39 years for a short-term rental. That's unfortunate since the equipment doesn't even usually last that long, but that is what it is. If it's a short-term rental, there is an exception where HVAC equipment can qualify for Section 179 to deduct it all in the current year. A rental with an average stay of 30 days or less for the year qualifies as non-residential for purposes of this part of the tax code, so it qualifies for section 179. That's rarely understood or used for short-term rentals, but it is a valid option if the rental qualifies.

Yes, you are correct. It's called the 'Tax Benefit Rule'. You may have a portion of your state tax refund that is not taxable. You can use the worksheet in IRS Publication 525 to determine the amount, if any, of our recovery of your state taxes is taxable for 2025. If you click the link it will take you directly to the worksheet to determine your taxable amount.
IRS Publication 525-Worksheet 2: Recoveries of Itemized Deductions
This will give you a way to calculate the amount and keep the worksheet in your tax file.

It's not likely, but if there is an entry in boxes 4 or 14, come back and tell us, because this amount (if any) should be reported on your return.

Thanks for the response and I understand your answer. What I don't get is I have to answer yes when I did not have a household employee in 2025. Also, in Missouri state return, online submission of the return is not allowed if you happen to donate to an organization that allows for state income tax credits. Is this an issue with Turbotax or Missouri Department of Revenue. This is not a new situation, it has been like this for years.

When reporting a liquidating dividend from Form 1099-DIV Box 9 (or 10), first understand any liquidating distribution you receive is not taxable until you have recovered the basis of your stock. After the basis of your stock has been reduced to zero, you must report the liquidating distribution as a capital gain.
If the total/final liquidating distributions you receive are less than the basis of your stock, you may have a capital loss. You can report a capital loss only after you have received the final distribution in liquidation that results in the redemption or cancellation of the stock.
In other words, the liquidating distribution may or may not be a reportable transaction this year. This is why the amount entered in box 9 of the 1099-DIV entry does not flow to any other form, schedule or worksheet. Basically, it's informational - it is used to determine/calculate your gain or loss.
Once you have determined you have a reportable transaction and calculated your gain or loss (cost basis = 0), you will report it the same way you would report the sale of common stock or other investments, as follows:
Type "Investment sales" in the search window and click Enter
Click on "Jump to Investment sales"
On the page with "Did you sell any investments in 20XX?" Answer Yes, or
If you have already entered investment sales, click on "Add more sales"
Indicate "Other" and click "Continue"
If asked, answer No to "Did you get a 1099-B..."
Enter a name of the person or entity that brokered the sale (enter anything you want, or you can leave this blank)
On the "Now we'll walk you through entering your sale details" Indicate "Other"
The interview will walk you through entering the details of reporting your gain.
Reporting the transaction as described above will result in TurboTax populating both Form 8949 and Schedule D.
You will also need to complete Form 7203 - S Corporation Shareholder Stock and Debt, which is supported by TurboTax.

I received a W-2 with zero in Box 1 and amounts in Box 3 and Box 5
If your W-2 includes a zero in Box 1 for tax-exempt Medicare waiver payments from In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), you should request a corrected W-2 as your payments should only be reflected in Box 12.
If you can't get a corrected W-2, follow these instructions:
Navigate to the Wages & Income section and scroll down to Less Common Income.
Select Start next to Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C.
Select Start next to Other income not reported on a Form W-2 or Form 1099.
Select Nontaxable Medicaid waiver payments not reported on a W-2 or 1099 on the screen Types of wages you received.
Enter your total Medicare waiver payments on the screen Certain nontaxable Medicaid waiver payments not reported on Form W-2 or 1099.
You might consider asking the agency that is making the payments as to how they determined that the nontaxable income was subject to Social Security taxes.
