I just used TurboTax for the first time. Me being as tax illiterate as I am should’ve went to a professional but my friend did it and swore it was free. I’m now wondering if she was confused because we work at the same place and by the time I was done with mine I understood it was going to charge me $75, I just went with it because I needed my taxes done and that was still cheaper than what it would cost to get someone else to do it from where I’m from. Well I agree to everything then they text & email me that it’s $203 and that doesn’t include taxes!! I mean how are they even getting away with this! I’m going to keep calling them until but I figure I might as well take my loss. I’m literally living paycheck to paycheck and needed this refund money as times are super hard for me right now. I literally had a panic attack when I got that email.

@dasrust    I ran into the same problem as you, but found another "work around". My best guess is that since we started our returns on desktop, it hid that download for desktop link from TurboTax online.   My workaround was to use/create a new TurboTax account (we used my spouse's account) and start filling via TurboTax online. I was able to download the desktop file after importing our crypto transactions. When opening the file in TurboTax desktop, I was able to confirm that the transactions did carry over and were present on the return.   I haven't finished filing (I have to go through everything else again) but I was able to generate a PDF of the return in it's current state and confirmed (again) that the crypto transactions and necessary forms were present as I expected.   Hope this helps
I am using TurboTax Home and Business on my windows laptop and I don't see a 'Tax Tools ' options ?   And under Tools there is no 'delete a form?"   Thoughts ?

If you haven't filed your return yet, and you are using TurboTax Online, you can preview your tax return and related forms and worksheets so that you can see how your refund or balance due was calculated.    The dollar amount showing in the "refund meter" at the top of the screen may not always keep up with the latest entries you have made, especially if you have a slow internet connection or there is heavy traffic on the website.   Detailed calculation information in TurboTax Online can be found by navigating on the left side menu to Tax Tools > Tools > View Tax Summary > Preview My 1040 to access the Form 1040 Worksheet.    This worksheet provides the in-depth, step-by-step calculations for your tax liability.    If you are using the Online version, you will need to have paid for your product in order to see all of the worksheets.

If TurboTax wants the date you sold your car that you use for your business and you did not sell it, you have to go back into the vehicle summary and confirm that you did not stop using your vehicle for business. Sometimes a box is mistakenly checked, that indicates that your vehicle was sold or your business stopped using it.   To do this, you can:   Go to your Business Income and Expense section of TurboTax Click on Start or update next to "Profit and Loss From Business". Click on Edit to the right of your business name Scroll down to Business Expenses - Business Vehicle expense and click on Start  Look for the question Are You Still Using Your Car for Business?" and select "Yes".   If you did stop using it, but didn't sell it, select "No" and enter the date you stopped using it for business See also: Business Use of Vehicles   Maximizing Tax Deductions for the Business Use of Your Car Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

My wife and I are filing jointly. She made over $200,000 and her employer correctly calculated the additional Medicare tax at 0.9% on her income above $200,000. I had two employers in 2025, so there was no additional Medicare tax calculated on my wages even though I also made above $200,000. However, in doing the joint filing calculation, online TurboTax is ignoring the additional tax that my wife already paid. It is saying that we owe the full 0.9% on everything we made over $250,000, even though my wife's employer already withheld some amount of additional Medicare for her earnings above $200,000. I have deleted and re-entered all of our W-2s and still can't get the calculation error corrected.

If you are filing married filing jointly and have a Form 1095-A, the IRS uses your combined Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI). This includes the total gross income of both spouses plus any tax-exempt interest, for the entire tax year to reconcile premium tax credits.   Please see this TurboTax tips article and this IRS webpage for more information about Form 1095-A.   Please see this help article for steps to enter Form 1095-A.

No, you will need the actual QMID code that is specifically for your new windows. This is a new and separate requirement implemented by the  IRS in 2025 that proves that the manufacturer is specifically registered for the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit and that the product qualifies for the credit.   The IRS requires this Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number (QMID) for new windows to claim the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit.   The QMID code is a specific code that can be found on your manufacturer's documentation, itemized invoices, or the IRS Energy Credits Online (ECO) portal. You must enter the correct QMID for TurboTax to accept it.   If you do not have a QMID (Qualified Manufacturer ID) for your product, you can contact the manufacturer directly to request their 4-digit code. The QMID is assigned to the manufacturer, not the installer.    You can also try checking with your installer for it or it may be on your  "Manufacturer Certification Statement," which should list the necessary information for Form 5695, including your QMID.    Click here for Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit qualified manufacturer requirements Click here for What Is the IRS Form 5695?   Click here for Instructions for Form 5695 Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.
