Stop. What do you mean "filing single " but with a husband who is filing the mortgage interest? You are about to make a big mistake.
If you were legally married at the end of 2025 your filing choices are married filing jointly or married filing separately when you prepare your 2025 return. Filing "Single" is not an option.
Married Filing Jointly is usually better, even if one spouse had little or no income. When you file a joint return, you and your spouse will get the married filing jointly standard deduction of $31,500 (+ $1600 for each spouse 65 or older) for 2025. You are eligible for more credits including education credits, earned income credit, child and dependent care credit, and a larger income limit to receive the child tax credit.
If you choose to file married filing separately, both spouses have to file the same way—either you both itemize or you both use standard deduction. Your tax rate will be higher than on a joint return.
Some of the disadvantages of filing separately include:
You cannot get earned income credit,
You cannot get education credits or deductions for student loan interest.
You cannot get the childcare credit
You have a lower amount of income on which to base the refundable additional child tax credit
85% of your Social Security benefits will be taxable even with no other income
The amount you can contribute to a retirement account will be limited.
Capital loss deduction is less than if you file jointly
You cannot get the $6000 senior deduction
You cannot get the deductions for overtime or tips
If you live in a community property state, you will be required to provide additional information regarding your spouse’s income. ( Community property states: AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA, WI) and your returns become very complicated.
If you are using online TurboTax to prepare your returns, you will need to prepare two separate returns and pay twice since with online, you get one return per fee.

The Lump Sum Social Security Worksheet asks me to enter taxable Social Security Benefits entered in earlier year (2024) from Line 20b on Form 1040. There is no Line 20b on Form 1040. Also it tells me that the amount should not be more than 85% of Line B. But Line B is the total SS benefits I received in 2024. If it makes a difference, the lump sum payment I received was because of the ending of the SS penalty for people receiving certain state pensions.

If you are legally married and living together your only options for filing are either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately. MFJ is the best way to file when married.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March

Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.

It seems that you didn’t understand the problem. I have followed the instructions and saved (uploaded) the signed 8453 form into the computer. Before I submit the tax return I used both the “preview” and “save filing documents” functions. What I saw among the to be submitted documents the to be transmitted 8453 form was unsigned! How can you be sure that the form to be filed to IRS is signed? I have used TurboTax for many years and I always check the forms before filing and I could see that the 8453 form was replaced by the signed form except this year. This should be fixed immediately so I can finish my tax return!
