Currently there is no built-in feature to automatically alphabetize a list of charities in TurboTax Online or within the "Step-by-Step" interview mode of TurboTax Desktop.    In TurboTax Desktop 2025, there is a technical workaround using Forms Mode to sort your data.   Here's how: Select the Forms icon in the upper-right corner of your screen. In the list of forms on the left, locate and select the Charitable Contributions Worksheet (or the Schedule A Worksheet section for donations). Click on any line within the table where your charities are listed. Go to the Edit menu at the top of your program. Select Sort Table. A dialog box will appear; choose to sort by Charity Name in Ascending order. Click OK. This will reorganize your current list alphabetically.

That's frustrating isn't it?  I actually found a fix online a couple of days ago.  I ran a Windows Recovery on my laptop and then was able to load Turbo Tax. I haven't used the program yet so I am hoping it will run properly.  If anyone wants to know, the fix I found was this:  "System/ Windows Update/ Advanced Options/ Recovery/ Fix Problems using Windows Update".  This took about an hour to install and restart my laptop.

Yes, your workaround is correct even if it may seem unorthodox. This avoids the TurboTax validation error while producing the same final tax result as entering both on Line 11.   This method is correct for IRS rules just as long as it is correct on:   Form 8829 (allocable home‑office portion)  Schedule A (remaining personal portion) @rlaub

I see, thank you for letting me know. I'm filing as a non-resident. When I switch to resident, I do see the option for 529 show up on that screen. But I need to file as a non-resident. A quick google search shows that I should be able to deduct contributions even as a non-resident. However, this section doesn't appear in Form 140NR.   I checked my returns for the last two years since I had the same situation, it looks like I added my 529 contributions as part of "Other Subtractions"     This seems to be fine, my returns for the last two years were accepted without issues

Been using TurboTax for over 15 years, not supporting PDF attachment nor CSV file this close to the filing cycle is unacceptable.    I am switching everything over to FreeTaxUSA. It supports everything I need and significantly cheaper. Not to mention, it doesn't lag and crash on me all the time like the TurboTax desktop.  Yes, it's a bit of a pain for the migration but enough is enough.
