Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    The IRS Where's My Refund site will not take into account the 5 days early, but if you signed up for the 5 Day Early product, you should receive your refund deposited 5 days prior to the date indicated by the IRS, assuming all conditions are met.   For more information click on the link below 5 Days Early Option   If you don't get your deposit 5 days early, there is a few reasons why that might happen.   Your refund was offset or differed from their estimated refund amount, bringing the refund amount below the minimum threshold or above the maximum. What is a refund offset? Your bank wouldn't accept RTP (Real Time Payments) or Same Day ACH deposits, preventing Intuit from depositing your refund 5 days ahead of when the IRS would have deposited your refund. The IRS didn't give Intuit 5 or more days of notice in advance. This stopped Intuit from meeting the 5 days early expectations. If TurboTax is unable to deliver the refund 5 days early, your order will be canceled and you won't be charged the 5-Day Early fee. You will receive a follow-up email with a refund and timing update, and if any cancellation is applicable.

Sounds like something got stuck. You can try these things:   Log Out Completely: Before doing anything else, click Sign Out in the TurboTax menu. Clear Cache and Cookies: This removes old, "corrupted" data that might be confusing the website. Use an Incognito (Private) Window: This is the most effective "quick fix" because it launches the browser without any saved history or extensions (like AdBlockers) that often interfere with tax forms. Check Pop-up Blockers: TurboTax often opens forms (like the 1099 PDF) or payment windows in a separate pop-up. Look at the right side of your address bar for a small icon with a "red X"—click it and select "Always allow pop-ups from Intuit." Restart the Browser: Close all open windows of your browser entirely and then reopen it.   Most TurboTax errors happen because the browser is trying to use an old "session" from a previous visit. By clearing the cache or using Incognito mode, you force the browser to establish a brand-new, secure connection with the Intuit servers.

Probably because some of the Social Security benefits became taxable, therefore increasing your taxable income.   Up to 85% of Social Security Retirement/Disability/Survivors benefits becomes taxable when all your other income plus 1/2 your social security reaches: Married Filing Jointly - $32,000 Single or Head of Household - $25,000 Married Filing Separately - 0 Look at your Form 1040 Line 6b for the taxable amount of your SS - You can view your Form 1040 plus Schedules 1, 2 and 3 at any time using the online editions. Social Security can  be up to 85% taxable depending on your filing status and other income.  This means if you had social security benefits of $30,000 and you are married filing separately $25,500 would be included in your taxable income.  If you are not having taxes withheld from that, then you would owe taxes at the end of the year as social security does not automatically withhold taxes based on your payment amount like an employer does.     If your situation will similar next year, then you can either make estimated payments or you can request from Social Security that they withhold taxes from your benefits.    Taxability of Social Security Benefits General Rule: Social Security benefits are not fully taxed. Depending on your "combined income," up to 85% of your benefits may be taxable. SSDI Treatment: SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) benefits are treated exactly the same as regular Social Security benefits for tax purposes. Thresholds for 85% Taxable: Single: Combined income above $34,000. Married Filing Jointly: Combined income above $44,000. Married Filing Separate: Benefits are taxable at 85% regardless of income level. Thresholds for 50% Taxable: Single: Combined income between $25,000 and $34,000. Married Filing Jointly: Combined income between $32,000 and $44,000. Calculation Formula: "Combined Income" is calculated as your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) + Nontaxable Interest + 1/2 of your Social Security Benefits.

It depends. There could be several things that are causing this but here are some recommendations that may fix the issue.   If you are using the CD/Download version for Windows or Mac, you can completely bypass the "Step-by-Step" interview where the error is occurring:   Switch to Forms Mode by clicking the icon in the top-right corner. In the left-hand pane, look for Schedule F (or Form 4835 for farm rentals). If you don't see it, click Open Form and search for "Schedule F." You can enter your income and expenses directly onto the form. This avoids the "Summary" page that is currently crashing. Sometimes a corrupted worksheet in the background may cause this issue   In TurboTax Online: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a form. Find Schedule F or the Farm Summary Worksheet and delete it. (Note: You will have to re-enter your farm data, but this often clears the software loop).  In TurboTax Desktop: Go to Forms Mode, find the Farm Summary or Schedule F, and click Delete Form at the bottom of the screen. If your farm includes depreciable assets (tractors, barns, equipment), Intuit has reported that certain depreciation calculations were not finalized until mid-February 2026.   Check for updates: In Desktop, go to Online > Check for Updates.   In Online, the updates are automatic, but if you have complex assets, the "Something went wrong" message might be a placeholder for a form that isn't fully ready for e-file yet. Most of the major updates were finalized yesterday.

@ThomasM125 - Can you provide further insight?  My taxes are being calculated from the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gains Worksheet. Would tax penalties or something else bump up my "taxable income" into the next bracket?   Would an example of a something else be Schedule 2 - Excess advance premium tax credit repayment, which was derived from Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit - Repayment of Excess Advance Payment of the Premium Tax Credit ?  This amount was >$1000.   Thank you
For TurboTax Desktop, you can download/install your software from this link.

If you received a "Success" message but your data hasn't appeared in TurboTax, it is likely due to recent browser security updates regarding Local Network Access.   To fix this you need to allow TurboTax to securely retrieve your data through your browser settings: Locate the View Site Information icon (the "tune" or "lock" icon) on the far left of your address bar, just before the URL. Find Local Network Access in the dropdown menu. Toggle the switch to ON. Refresh the page and attempt your import again. If permissions aren't the issue, one of the following factors may be at play: Brokerage Delays: While most forms arrive by January 31, many brokerages delay Consolidated 1099s (like the 1099-B) until mid-February due to complex reporting requirements. Availability: Your brokerage must specifically "release" the import file to TurboTax. If it isn’t ready, we recommend checking back. Connection Blocks: Active VPNs or aggressive Anti-Virus software can occasionally block the import feature between your bank and TurboTax. Try disabling them temporarily or switching to a different browser. Helpful TurboTax Articles: What if I can't import my 1099? How can I fix my 1099 import issue? How do I import my 1099s? Another user suggested this: You can skip the 1st half video to prepare the CSV file because you can download the CSV file from Merrill too. This YouTube video showed how convert 1099-B PDF file to TXF file for tax preparation software by first converting PDF to CSV; then converting CSV to TXF with online tool from website, 1099bimporter.com. This process included the wash sale too. https://youtu.be/o7w907Ryr-Y?si=iFlHlnRl9MrMCJMq

Why when I add  my social security income my taxes owed jumped from $2700 to $5499?
Hi @AmyC - Thank you for all the work on this.  I deleted the 2 forms and re-entered exactly as requested.   Still no $8000 appearing on line 8 in form 8606.  I will contact support.

Instead of adding pages to your physical deck, you can force the software to create a PDF that has everything you need. This keeps your digital record complete.   Use "Print Selected Forms":  Go to File > Print. Instead of selecting "Tax Return for Filing," choose "Specific Forms." In the list that appears, manually check the boxes for Federal Schedule 1, Federal Schedule 3, and your MI-1040 package. Save this as a single PDF. This "tricks" the software into bundling them into one file.
