It depends. There could be several things that are causing this but here are some recommendations that may fix the issue.
If you are using the CD/Download version for Windows or Mac, you can completely bypass the "Step-by-Step" interview where the error is occurring:
Switch to Forms Mode by clicking the icon in the top-right corner.
In the left-hand pane, look for Schedule F (or Form 4835 for farm rentals).
If you don't see it, click Open Form and search for "Schedule F."
You can enter your income and expenses directly onto the form. This avoids the "Summary" page that is currently crashing.
Sometimes a corrupted worksheet in the background may cause this issue
In TurboTax Online: Go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a form. Find Schedule F or the Farm Summary Worksheet and delete it. (Note: You will have to re-enter your farm data, but this often clears the software loop).
In TurboTax Desktop: Go to Forms Mode, find the Farm Summary or Schedule F, and click Delete Form at the bottom of the screen.
If your farm includes depreciable assets (tractors, barns, equipment), Intuit has reported that certain depreciation calculations were not finalized until mid-February 2026.
Check for updates: In Desktop, go to Online > Check for Updates.
In Online, the updates are automatic, but if you have complex assets, the "Something went wrong" message might be a placeholder for a form that isn't fully ready for e-file yet.
Most of the major updates were finalized yesterday.
