If you receive this form 1099-K for selling personal items on Ebay at a loss (for less than you paid for them), for the IRS, you have made a loss on personal items. This loss on personal items is not deductible and is not reported on your tax return.
If this is the case, you do not need to report this form 1099-K on your tax return. Just keep it in your tax records along with any proof that it was for the sale of personal items at cost or at a loss.
Please read this TurboTax Help topic for more information.

LLC was multi-state in 2024 but not 2025. Also had rental income in other state in 2024 but sold property in 2024 as well The multistate in 2024 seems to carry over to 2025 by default Thus, with no income in 2025 for the remaining NC property as it is being rehabbed for sale, I could not enter 0 for rents, so I entered $1 on the federal return and reduce an expense by $1 Thus $1 appeared in the apportionment table with $1 in NC and $1 everywhere columns

The correct thing to do would be to get a corrected Form 1099-B, but that may not be possible. If you can't get a corrected 1099 form you can enter the investment sales individually so you can report the correct dates. That will allow for the proper treatment on your tax return. The IRS will be more focused on you reporting the correct proceeds and cost basis which will not be affected by the dates of acquisition and sale. [Edited 2/24/26 at 8:22 AM PST] @Kitty-99

I know this will sound a little silly but you need to check the addresses for extra spaces. The easiest mistake is to enter the five digit zip code and then add a space right after it. The system reads that space as an additional character and doesn't know what it is.

The amended Form 1040-X is not yet available and will likely be later. The IRS is not willing to accept an amendment for the current tax year early in the tax season. Use the link below to check to see when it will be available. Do not change your tax return until you read all the instructions. TurboTax needs to know the original numbers and the corrected numbers to provide the correct end results before you prepare it.
If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.
You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.
You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.
Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.
The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due
Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.
You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment
Amend a tax return for the current tax year

If you are a public employee, select
"New York IRC 414(h) subject to NY tax"
If you are not a NY Public Employee, please continue the question.
An amount in Box 14 with code 414(h) usually indicates New Your retirement contributions which do need to be added as income on your New York state return.

Why do you want to compare Joint vs. Single? If you are legally married, filing Single is not an option.
If you were legally married at the end of 2025 your filing choices are married filing jointly or married filing separately when you prepare your 2025 return.
Married Filing Jointly is usually better, even if one spouse had little or no income. When you file a joint return, you and your spouse will get the married filing jointly standard deduction of $31,500 (+ $1600 for each spouse 65 or older) for 2025. You are eligible for more credits including education credits, earned income credit, child and dependent care credit, and a larger income limit to receive the child tax credit.
If you choose to file married filing separately, both spouses have to file the same way—either you both itemize or you both use standard deduction. Your tax rate will be higher than on a joint return.
Some of the disadvantages of filing separately include:
You cannot get earned income credit,
You cannot get education credits or deductions for student loan interest.
You cannot get the childcare credit
You have a lower amount of income on which to base the refundable additional child tax credit
85% of your Social Security benefits will be taxable even with no other income
The amount you can contribute to a retirement account will be limited.
Capital loss deduction is less than if you file jointly
You cannot get the $6000 senior deduction
You cannot get the deductions for overtime or tips
If you live in a community property state, you will be required to provide additional information regarding your spouse’s income. ( Community property states: AZ, CA, ID, LA, NV, NM, TX, WA, WI) and your returns become very complicated.
If you are using online TurboTax to prepare your returns, you will need to prepare two separate returns and pay twice since with online, you get one return per fee.

It is not easy to compare MFJ to MFS using online TT but you can do it. Since you only get one return for each account and user ID, you have to use 3 accounts and user ID’s—one for MFJ and two for each of the MFS returns. Compare, choose, and file—and pay—accordingly.
It is much easier to do this comparison using the desktop version of TT installed from a CD or downloaded to your own computer. You pay once for the software and you can prepare multiple returns easily, and it has a “what if” feature that allows comparisons.

Now the question is should any of the special SS benefit received retroactively for tax year 2024 be removed from the calculation of taxable income on Line 6b of the 2025 Form 1040-SR. I understand there is a bill submitted in Congress to do that but chances of it getting done before April 15 aren't likely.
