Delete the Form 1099-R and then re-enter manually to clear this error
I received a letter from the IRS dated 3/17/26 regarding an invalid code on Form 5695.  I'm going to attempt to re-upload the Form 5695 from my return to see if the system issue is resolved.
No, your return will not be flagged because your entry doesn't match the 1099-R form exactly, as long as the intent is clear.  Box 2b for Total Distribution must be checked if that's what occurred.  ... See more...

You will not need to send them a new file. They get a digital file coded for them. You should be set.

This is the wrong forum to request a callback.  However, this is the right forum to guide you on how to complete your return, which may be quicker than waiting for a phone call.  We can message back and forth in this thread to assist you in completing your return without preparing the return for you. Let's get you started, and then you can ask questions as you go along.      We will start by having you enter your business profile and then progress by reporting your 1099. This will get your feet wet and get you ready for the next set of questions.    If working in TurboTax Online Select Wages & Income.  Scroll to Self‑Employment. Select Start or Edit/Add next to Self‑employment income and expenses (Schedule C). 2. Create or confirm your business profile   TurboTax will ask:   What type of work you do  Your business name (optional) Business code Then it will ask a series of questions to complete your profile. there is one question that asks if you issued any 1099's to anyone. This is usually a no-answer unless you did issue a 1099. 3. Once the business profile is done, you should have a summary page for your business. Look for Business Income or income. Select it and you will see the various types of 1099's.  Choose the appropriate category for the 1099 and start reporting your income.   If you purchased the Home and Business version the menu path has a slight variation except go to Business>Business income and Expenses to begin the entry.   Reach back if you have additional questions while waiting for that phone call.  As i said, this may work out better for you.

Could you please provide documentation supporting that statement? I would appreciate a bit more detail or a reference. In IRS Publication 946, the definition of “salvage value” states: An estimated value of property at the end of its useful life. Not used under MACRS. So I thought I was safe applying this for federal tax purposes.   I have doubts regarding California income tax. As I understand it, California generally follows federal depreciation rules, which would mean that salvage value is also not taken into account.
Im 88, retired teacher, its asking for RMD that was required by dec 31, 2025. I don't see anything on 1099-r, or Calstrs website/account
No don’t do that!   Go to…… Federal Taxes Wages and Income Scroll way down to the end - Less Common Income  (show more) Gambling Winnings - Click the Start or Revisit button and follow the screens

So, is this acknowledging that TT does not calculate this credit correctly?  and anyone in this situation would need to catch this issue, and then manually override on this form?   Appreciate the work-around (but seems I need to manually enter slightly incorrect info to make this work), but this also makes me wonder what else I need to check and verify is coming in correctly.   That's a pretty big 'miss' on the software.

I am a Nevada resident and have received a California K-1 for my mother's trust.  I entered the amount from Box 5(d) into my federal return. I downloaded the California tax return and for the K-1 it is showing the same amount from Box (e) on the form in the federal adjusted column.  It is asking for an amount in the California amount coluymn.  Do I enter that same amount again?

To report a recharacterization from a Roth to a Traditional IRA in TurboTax, enter the original contribution under IRA Contributions, select "Yes" to "Did you recharacterize from a Roth to Traditional IRA?", and enter the amount moved.    You're then asked for the reason for recharacterization and Form 8606 is generated if needed, treating the contribution as if it were originally made to a Traditional IRA.   @lbm1230
@dwpmr  In Forms Mode, on the INFOWS worksheet, check what selected in the residency section. If #1 Canadian resident is selected, unselect it, and try again.
