You can file prior-year returns using desktop software for the past three to four years, specifically for years 2022, 2023, and 2024 as of early 2026.    In general, the statute of limitations for filing a return to receive a refund is three years from the original due date of the return, or two years from the date the tax was paid, whichever is later.   For most, this means a 2022 return must generally be filed by April 15, 2026, to claim a refund and most 2021 returns are past the statute date for claiming a refund. This is by law. Because of this, do-it-yourself software providers like TurboTax don't continue to support years for which the statute is typically expired unless the original return was filed very late.   California has a 4-year statute instead of 3 years. However, commercial do-it-yourself software such as TurboTax only covers the current plus 3 prior years.   Tax return audits would generally only go back 7 years if there was something extending the statute, such as a substantial understatement of income or fraud, or if the return was filed several years late.   See this tax tips article and this one for more information.   @luisadelavoce

There's not enough detail to know what that means.   What do you mean by "download?"   Download from where?  Was the 2024 return prepared in Online TurboTax, and now you're using desktop software for 2025?    Or do you already have the *.tax2024 data file on the same computer as your 2025 TurboTax program?   If so, then please describe your issue.   Or do you already have the 2024 data file and are having trouble transferring it into the 2025 program for Mac?     In other words, we are just guessing until you explain your issue.
It was accepted.  Maybe i should just add my K-1’s and amend.  It is free to amend right?  Just pay if there is any difference is tax owed

As a permanent Maryland resident, I need to file a Wisconsin 2k-1 inheritance form as a non-resident to the state of Wisconsin?  I am a MD resident so all my other income is reported on the Maryland form.  The inheritance on the Wisconsin 2K-1 is the only Wisconsin income I have to report on that state form.    I paid TurboTax for the 2nd state (Wisconsin) and the 2k-1 form is not an option that I can find for that state.

You don't need a 1099.  When you run the HSA interview, Turbotax should tell you that you have $X of excess and ask, will you remove it?  You say yes, that takes care of it.  Then, if the custodian returned any excess gains, report just that portion as bank interest income and check the box for "I did not get a 1099-INT for this interest."   Note, I want to go over the rules to make you have determined the excess correctly.  You only backdate your enrollment if you enroll after turning 65.  If you enroll within +/- 3 months of turning 65, your coverage is effective the 1st day of your month that has your 65th birthday.    Assuming your enrollment is backdated to October 1, 2025, your contribution limit for 2025 is $7,162 if you are enrolled in family HDHP coverage, or $3,975 if you are enrolled in single HDHP coverage.  Those amounts can be contributed any time during 2025, even after your enrollment date.  What counts is the dollar amount for the year, not when during the year the money was contributed.     So depending on those two rules, you might not actually have an excess.

I attempted to import our Fidelity Brokerage Account information today, but it only retrieved my 1099-R for a Roth conversion. It failed to include my wife’s Roth conversion, taxable brokerage account, inherited IRA, or either of our IRAs or Roths. Additionally, I have a Fidelity Net Benefits (workplace 401K) account, and I encountered issues with that as well. While I can manually enter some of the information, the lengthy and complex taxable (managed by Fidelity) 1099-B form makes manual input unreliable and not feasible. Furthermore, the TT application frequently locks up and crashes whenever I attempt to save. I have ensured that my MAC OS is up to date (Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)). Could you please provide any suggestions or assistance?

If you do not amend, retain your paperwork and your workpapers should a tax authority have a question about the K-1 entry at a later time.   If your return has been transmitted and accepted by the IRS, you would have to amend your Federal 1040 tax return to report the entry.   If you used TurboTax Online, log in to your account and select Amend a return that was filed and accepted.    If you used the CD/download product, sign back into your return and select Amend a filed return.    See also this TurboTax Help. @bodem-jack

@ cuong_bui wrote: I clicked on "add a state return"  Now it presented me with 2 choices :  Amend or "Trash Icon" I assumed that "Trash Icon" means delete the current state return (California) and restart, do I have to pay again for adding California return (I already paid) ? Will it let me edit the federal return ?   The whole issue was that I entered many estimates on both federal and states, to see how much I owe (ballpark). I have to pay in order for Turbo Tax Online to continue and generate the PDF so I can see. But then Turbo Tax Online said I am finished even though I never clicked "I am done" button. I used Turbo Tax desktop for years, never have such problem. What can I do now? I asked for refund, but Intuit refused. I am checking with my Visa card to see if I can charge back. You wrote:  "I used Turbo Tax desktop for years, never have such problem."     Yes, the desktop product is a much better product than the Online version.   The link "Add a State" (at the Tax Home page) is only used to get you back into the return interview if TurboTax had closed the interview.  It doesn't actually add another state return.   It simply opens the interview back up.      Sorry, it's difficult to know what the trash can icon is for or why you are seeing it.  This is a user community, and nobody can see what all you have done and are doing.   In any case, it shouldn't let you delete the state return if it's already been paid for.  If you've already paid for Federal and a state return, you should not have to pay again.   At the Tax Home once you clicked on "Add a State", did that not reopen the interview so you could continue working on it?   Do not click on Amend, or that will start an amended return.   Or did you already start an amended return by mistake?     Since you have not filed your return (you said it only said "printed"),  once you get back to the interview you should be able to edit anything in the Federal and state returns prior to filing.   If you continue to have trouble with this, you may wish to speak to the people at TurboTax Support again and talk to someone in real time so they can, hopefully, figure out what's going on.  They might even be able to screen share with you, if needed.   TurboTax Customer Support Hours 5AM-9PM Pacific, 7 days/week https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/contact/

If you imported your 1099-B and you have numerous 'check this entry' errors, you could manually check NO for digital asset on the Capital Asset Sales Worksheet.  However, you could also delete the import and enter a Category Summary for these transactions.   Here's more info on How to Fix Multiple 'Needs Review' Transactions.   @jtb5  @user17742274419
