I'd say they already have this granularity to some extent.  When importing from Chase, I'm presented with a long checklist of all my documents that are ready for import.  I can choose to uncheck any documents that I don't want to import.  In my case, I would like to choose to uncheck (and thus skip import) of all the documents that I have *already* imported.  The interface allows this, but then proceeds to delete ALL the data before inputting only the remaining checked documents.    If it's going to allow import of a partial set of documents from Chase, it shouldn't first require me to have a "clean slate"

It depends. Health insurance premiums can be entered as an itemized deduction.  You can deduct your unreimbursed health insurance premiums but you have to itemize your deductions instead of taking the standard deduction.  Medical expenses must exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) to count toward your itemized deductions  and your itemized deductions must exceed your standard deduction for your filing status to itemize.   For navigation instructions, refer to the TurboTax article Can I deduct medical expenses?   Review the following TurboTax articles to determine if there are additional items that you can deduct on your Schedule A.  20 Common Tax Deductions: Examples for Your Next Tax Return and What Are Itemized Tax Deductions?   For more information on deductions, review the TurboTax article: Standard Deduction vs. Itemized Deductions: Which Is Better?

You many not need the 2024 license activation code, if you're just wanting to transfer your *.tax2024 data file from the old computer to the new computer so you can transfer the data into a new 2025 return.  In that case you don't have to open the *.tax2024 data file in the 2024 program on the old computer.   You can copy the *.tax2024 data file from the old computer to a thumb drive, and then deposit it in the new computer.     If you have a Windows PC, it's best to place it in the Documents\TurboTax folder, which is the default location for TurboTax data files.   Or are you wanting to make a 2024 PDF on the old computer and then also transfer the 2024 PDF to your new computer?   If so, and if you haven't already previously made a PDF, that would indeed require you to run the 2024 program to make the PDF file.  I've addressed that in a comment that follows this one.   If you password-protected or encrypted the 2024 data file on the old computer, there could be additional issue.

TurboTax is producing a tax year 2025 form 5329 that shows a continuing excess HSA contribution even though I withdrew the excess during the 2025 tax year. The interview never asks me if the excess has been withdrawn. And even though I entered a 1099-SA recording the excess distribution it still lists the amount as excess for 2025.   Here are the details:   In tax year 2022 my employer made a $19 contribution to my HSA account even though I no longer had a high-deductible health plan. I reported the $19 as an excess contribution on form 5329 in tax years 2022, 2023 and 2024. (Just wasn’t important enough to deal with so I just kept carrying it over.) At the end of December 2025 I contacted the HSA custodian and asked that the excess amount and the earnings based on the amount be withdrawn to correct the problem. They didn’t process the withdrawal until January 2026, but sent me a 1099-SA marked tax year 2025. The distribution was coded “2” (excess contribution). When I walk through TurboTax’s “HSA and MSA contributions” interview it collects the info from the 1099-SA including the “2” distribution code and the $19 amount (plus $0.07 excess earnings). I also check the box for “Overfunded your HSA last year” and tell it I didn’t have HDHP coverage during 2024. When it asks “Enter last year's excess contribution” I specify the excess amount as it was entered in my tax year 2024 form 5329. The interview never asks if the excess contribution was withdrawn, though. And it doesn’t seem to pick up on the fact that the 1099-SA is the withdrawal. It’s still putting “$19” on line 48 of the 2025 form 5329.   How do I get TurboTax to take the excess off my 2025 return so this stops being carried over?

Yes, we can help. Because TurboTax Desktop 2025 will only run on Windows 11, you will have to either upgrade to Windows 11 following these steps on the Microsoft website. (64-bit).  See this page for TurboTax Desktop 2025 system requirements.   Or as you stated above, you can use TurboTax Online instead. These instructions can help you switch from TurboTax Desktop to TurboTax Online.   You have to use TurboTax Online on your computer to do this transfer because it won’t work from a mobile device.   Sign in to TurboTax Online and start a new return, or open and continue a return you already started. Select Tax Home in your left panel of your TurboTax screen Select Start or Continue to enter your return information.  Select Tax Tools from your left menu, then select Tools. In the pop-up window, select the Transfer last year's TurboTax return from your computer link (if you don’t see this option, you may need to clear and start over first). For additional information: How does the end of support for Windows 10 affect my TurboTax Desktop experience? How do I switch from TurboTax Desktop to TurboTax Online?   Please return to Community if you have any additional information or questions and we would be happy to help.

I do not see bug #3 as an issue because you are choosing to download the same statement that you had downloaded previously presumably because there were some changes in it. Hence it needs to write over what it imported before - the message is clear from TT. wait until all forms are ready from your financial institution. Import in one go and then make the necessary changes and never import again. they just don't have the granularity for dealing with multiple imports. In previous years it was at the level of financial institution meaning all second attempts will wipe out everything previously imported from that institution. But this year they have the granularity at the account level - meaning it only overwrites the forms for that one account you are attempting again. They probably will figure out (next year) how to increase the granularity to the form level

I can't get past the Sales Tax Deduction screen.  I selected one the categories (out of two) and no matter how I answer, I get an error on the Federal Review.  I tried editing the form but then I got a message that editing the form would cause later errors. Oh good grief!! I want to deduct the state taxes NOT the sales tax. I have no frigging idea what I paid in sales tax.  I never had this problem in prior years! HELP!
I go back into Apply refund to next year and select no when it says apply all or part of it toward next years tax bill yet it still does not give me my refund back.

So let me get this straight...  TurboTax thinks it's an acceptable solution to tell me to uninstall my virus protection to comply with their registration process.  Excuse me?  Really?  That should NEVER be a valid solution.  I am angry.  I've used 3 of my 5 activations on the same pc for Turbo Tax 2025 as I've done several 'what if' scenarios and done the taxes for some family members.  I just had to open 2024 TurboTax to look something up and the same thing... it wanted the license key and counted it as a new activation.  What happens when it gets to 5... I can't go back and look at last year's taxes, or I can't do any more for this year?  TurboTax should be ashamed.  I am angry and will be beyond angry if this causes me grief going forwards

TLDR: Individuals cannot deduct investment expenses. Estates and trusts might be able to  (and, I think, only if they exceed what an individual would ordinarily pay).  Why?  An investment expense is a miscellaneous itemized deduction because IRC 67(b) says so. https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/67 (or rather doesn't include it in the list of non-itemized deductions). Misc itemized deductions were not allowed for 2025 and are permanently disallowed from now on. IRC 67(h) or new 67(a).  Form 8960 is about the Net Investment Income (NII) surcharge. It allows deductions that are "allowed by this subtitle" IRC 1411(c)(1)(B). https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/67 The regulations say this means  "deductions allowed by subtitle A that are properly allocable to such gross income or net gain (as determined in paragraph (f) of this section)." Treas. Reg. 1.1411-4(a)(2). https://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/26/1.1411-4  Subtitle A is the income tax. Therefore, investment expenses are itemized deduction and because itemized deductions are not allowed as a deduction for individuals, they are not deduction from the NII.

The program wanted to update the program and then asked for a key. I don't have that any more. What do I do Are you using a Mac or Windows PC?   Please explain more about what you mean by "key."   Are you referring to the 16-digit license code to run the TurboTax program?   Or are you asking about a keychain access on a Mac computer, etc. to unlock a protected data file?   If you are asking about the 2024 license code, you should be able to retrieve it in your Intuit Account in the products section.    To get there, sign into online TurboTax and in the left column scroll way down to the tab Intuit Account.   But that license code is not needed just to transfer the 2024 data file to a new computer.   See my next comment below.
