SALE OF HOUSE
If your gain was more than $250,000 filing Single, or more than $500,000 filing Married Filing Jointly the sale must be reported on your tax return. Whether you re-invested the gain in to another house is irrelevant. If you have a Form 1099-S go to Federal>Wages and Income>Less Common Income>Sale of Home (gain or loss)
If you owned and lived in the home as your primary residence for at least 2 of the last 5 years on the date of the sale, you do not have to report the home sale if the gain is less than $250K filing Single, or less than $500K filing Married Filing Jointly (and you both owned and lived in the home for at least 2 years).
If you are using online TT, you need Premium software to report the 1099-S

In Step 2 of the FILE section you had the screen to enter banking information.
Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section step 2 to enter/change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.
If you e-filed:
Banking information for direct deposit is wrong or closed
If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS.
https://www.taxpayeradvocate.irs.gov/news/tax-tips/direct-deposit-changes-for-2026-could-affect-how-and-when-you-get-your-refund/2026/01/
If you take NO action—-the IRS will freeze your refund for at least six weeks and then mail you a check.
If your refund is sent back to the IRS—- make certain that the address you entered on your Form 1040 is correct. And…open all mail, even if it looks like junk mail.

How long ago was your e-file accepted?
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund. Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.
Your federal refund amount is on line 35a of your Form 1040

I'll assume you are asking about a state refund. Some states are fairly quick with refunds, while other states can take a long time processing returns--even several weeks--as they crack down on detecting fraudulent returns. Here are some things you should check: First, you need to be sure your state return was successfully filed. If you efiled, be sure your efiled state return was accepted. If you used Online TurboTax, you can check by looking at the Tax Home in your Online account. Or did you end up having to file by mail instead? If so, TurboTax does not mail it for you. If you had to use that method, you have to print, sign, date, and mail it. @Lindawaddell Only the IRS controls when your refund will be approved. When the IRS approves your refund, the IRS gives you a date.
"5 days early" means you are supposed to receive your refund from one to five days sooner than the refund date shown on the IRS refund site. If it does not meet that "at least one day sooner" date, they are supposed to refund the $35 fee.
You have to pay attention to the date on the IRS refund site.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner. The IRS does not allow you to take it back.
If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.” The changes will go nowhere.
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally. You will need to use a form called a 1040X.
Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
The Form 1040X is scheduled to be available on February 19. The date is subject to change, so check on 2-19 to see if it is ready. Before that, do not change anything at all on your return.

@wong1021 wrote: I downloaded a copy of my 2024 return from Turbotax. However, it does not match my IRS transcripts that I downloaded from IRS and my bank history of tax refund. How can I get a copy of the file that I actually sent via e-file? Does that 2024 PDF you downloaded have any of these pages: the Electronic Filing Instructions, the Electronic Postmark, and Summary Page with your refund deposit information? In that section where you downloaded your 2024 return ("Your Tax Returns & Documents"), what is showing for the status of the 2024 return--does it say accepted, rejected, printed, started, or something else? Sometimes people have started a return in more than 1 account. If it becomes necessary, we can tell you how to look for other accounts. But first we have to see if that account is the one used to efile your return to the IRS. How you respond to the above questions will be a clue. Also, after efiling last year did you go back into your return interview and make any changes in it or start an amended return?

After I navigated to the list of Deductions and Credits , I don’t see any section named Estimates and Other Taxes Paid. I’m using the online TurboTax.

"Updated after February 13th, 2026" ?? What does that mean? I talked with a TurboTax representative last week and was told "BY February 13th or earlier". I've let them string me along this long because its the path of least resistance for me. Unfortunately, this year I really need to get my taxes done now! I sold my rental in 2025 so once I get the taxes done it will be the last time I use TurboTax.

Hello, There is a bug in Form 1116 AMT (Desktop version for Mac). Part IV, Line 33 is incorrect. This value should be the smaller of Line 20 or Line 32. Instead, Line 33 is incorrectly picking up Line 27 (for Passive Income only). This results in an incorrect calculation of my AMT. I have submitted a sanitised version of my tax return and have a token code. I am happy to provide you with the token code if you need it. Please have this bug fixed ASAP as I cannot efile with an error. Thank you.

I eliminated the "Canadian" question. The first thing I did was to delete ALL imported forms ... Dividend, Interest, Stocks & Bonds, etc. After deleting all the imported forms, I returned to the "Summary" pages ... the page where see and can delete, review, or edit the various sections/forms (not sure what it's called ... I only do this once a year so I don't remember all the names used by TT). I selected for "Review" the import forms, and went through the process of again importing the forms from my Bank/Brokerage. During the "Selection" of forms to import, all the forms were "checked" by default ... including a OID 1099. The description of the form described the form as a "Foreign" accounts or interest ... something to that affect. I unchecked the form and the annoying "Canadian" question did not show up again as I completed (for the 3rd or 4th time) the 2025 Return.

Hello:
Turbotax token: Your token number is: 70343665-07773709
There is a bug with Form 1116 AMT
Part IV, Line 33 is incorrect. This should be the smaller of Line 20 ($5,888) or Line 32 ($5,903).
So the smaller value is $5,888.
Instead, Line 33 is only picking Line 27, the value for Passive Income, $3,090.
Because of this error, Turbotax is incorrectly calculating my AMT to be very high. Please fix this bug ASAP as I cannot efile the tax return with an error.
Thank you.
