Your fee for using TurboTax is the same whether you e-file or mail the return in an envelope. The fee is for using the software, not for e-filing. If the e-file was rejected, you can try to fix it and re-file or you can print it, sign and date it in ink, and file by mail.
If it was rejected---what is your rejection message or rejection code?

@MarilynG1 That is incorrect. That is not all that is required. A statement of all transactions must be attached. TurboTax only offers to have that sent in by mail. Yes the return can still be ostensibly e-filed, but the statement must be mailed within 3 days of filing. All other current tax software allows those statements to be attached for e-filing. Why does TurboTax keep glossing over this like it’s not true?

Catina: Hopefully I can explain this problem. It's not that the import doesn't work, it's that the import from Franklin Templeton only brings in data from a single Franklin Templeton account. And each separate mutual fund at Franklin is regarded as a single account. So with my Franklin IRA, which holds five different mutual funds, the import only brings in data from the specific fund number, not all five accounts the way TurboTax did last year. So to get all the 1099-R data from my IRA, I have to do 5 specific imports. (Ok, 5's not a huge problem, but I know a guy that's got 50 Franklin "accounts". So whatever the Intuit development team did in setting up the 2025 software "broke" the way Franklin data was imported last year (2024). Last year, you entered your Franklin Templeton userid and password, and all of the 1099-R and combined 1099-B/D data got imported in a single step. As I've hopefully explained above, that's not the case this year. As far as I can tell, this "problem" is specific to Franklin Templeton. With American Funds or Hartford, you enter your userid and password, tell TurboTax to import, and all of the 1099 data comes over in a single step. Clear as mud? Fred

Not sure what you are trying to do. There is no place on your tax return to say that you are retired, unless you want to use "retired" as your occupation in MY INFO. Occupation has no effect on your tax due or refund.
If you are retired, you can enter retirement income:
Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
To enter your retirement income, Go to Federal> Wages and Income>Retirement Plans and Social Security>IRA 401 k) Pension Plan Withdrawals to enter your 1099R.

When completing the form path for an Energy Efficient Vehicle entry - if you answer yes that you transferred the credit to the dealer at purchase, the form doesn't allow you to enter a personal / business use split or automatically complete the associated sections of form 8936 and 8936-A as well as form 3800 part 3. I have found that if I answer that I did not transfer the credit to the dealer, the software behaves as you would expect. I'm not sure if the business use element is required if the credit was transferred to the dealer. My return checks out without error but I am nervous that this information may be required and the associated forms.

Form RRB-1099 and Form RRB-1099-R are two different forms. The form you are describing is Form RRB-1099, the blue form. But the page you are on in TurboTax is for entering Form RRB-1099-R, the green form. The box numbers on the two forms are different. To enter Form RRB-1099 in TurboTax go to "Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099)."
You have to enter both forms.

I just contacted them, spoke with "T", he was very professional and helfpful. For my license number it now says I have one more efile. I think the system fixed itself between my 4th file a few days ago and today's call. Yesterday the predicted wait time was 20-25 minutes and I didn't choose to wait, today it was 5-10 so I held on. I'm now more comfortable believing that when I go to efile my last return that it will work. Thanks

In the state section, try to delete the California return and start it again. Often, a fresh state form resolves the loop.

The TurboTax Free online edition is for very simple tax returns that do not require any other form or schedule other than the Form 1040. If your tax data requires entry on any other form or schedule then you must upgrade to the Deluxe edition or higher.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Switch Products on the lower left side of the program screen while working on the 2025 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over
Go to this TurboTax website for the Free online edition - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/free-edition.jsp

Good news and bad news. Good news, your carryover is still valid and allowed. There have been big changes to the credit allowed while you were gone.
Bad news, it is currently only available in the desktop version and requires a back door method to get the K-47 you need.
Good news, it is easy to switch and your information stays intact so you can pick up where you left off. See Switching from TTO to TTD.
To finish up:
Once you have your .tax file downloaded and the program downloaded, open your return.
You will see Forms on the top right.
Select Forms
You will now see all your forms on the left side.
Above them is Open Form
Click on Open Form
Pop-up box, click the + beside Kansas
Locate Schedule K-47 and click it
Then the blue Open Form box
Your carryover goes in line 3.
Fill in any pink boxes
Go back to step by step - top right
Finish return and file
