Yes, if you're Married Filing Jointly, DON'T check the box for 'Joint Occupancy' on Form 5695.  This refers to sharing the home with someone not on your return, and splitting the costs of energy efficient credits with them.   If you're using TurboTax Desktop, in FORMS, 'Open Form' 5695 and use the 'Delete' button at the bottom of the form to delete it.  Then step through the interview for the Energy Credit again to let it repopulate properly.   @dungnguyen168

Once your return is filed, TurboTax has no control over the processing or the timing when the IRS releases your refund.    The IRS states that most federal tax refunds are issued within 21 days of acceptance, however, some may take longer if they require additional review. Also, by law, the IRS cannot issue EITC or ACTC refunds before mid-February. This applies to your entire refund, not just the portion related to those specific credits.   Here are a few FAQs to help you track your refund: When will I get my federal tax refund? How do I track my state refund? Why does Where's My Refund say "approved" but TurboTax still says "accepted"? Why do some refunds take longer than others? What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

Using Form 8379 will allow you as the injured spouse to get back your portion of your tax refund from a jointly-filed tax return if it has been seized or offset to pay your spouse's past-due debt, like child support, student loans, or unpaid taxes. It is used to separate your income/credits from your spouse's income/credits, and protects your share of any refund.   You can file it with your tax return, or after you receive a notice that your refund was held for your spouse's debt.   You have to file jointly to use this form. And you must not be responsible for any of the past-due debt. Using Form 8379 will substantially delay your refund. (up to 14 weeks)   To file this form using your TurboTax program, you can: Click on Search at the top right of your TurboTax screen Type injured spouse in the search box Click on the link Jump to injured spouse Your screen will say Innocent or Injured Spouse Relief, select Yes Your screen will say First, enter the years that you're seeking innocent spouse relief, enter 2025 (or what year you are seeking it for if other than 2025) Follow the instructions on your TurboTax screens. Make sure to answer each question correctly. If you are filing this form with your 2025 tax return, make sure to answer Yes to the question Are you filing Form 8379 with your tax return? For additional information; How do I file Form 8379, Injured Spouse Allocation? and What is IRS Form 8379: Injured Spouse Allocation Please return to Community if you have any additional questions or information and we would be happy to help.

Right now, self-employment tips aren't eligible for the deduction if they are not reported to the IRS on a 1099-K, 1099-NEC, or 1099-MISC.  In order to be deducted, they must be reported on a 1099 for self-employed individuals.   There has been no guidance issued from the IRS to state otherwise as of yet.  However, as you walk through the interview mode, and enter your income as cash, there is a box for you to check that says "This includes cash tips" just in case this changes.  You can check that box, BUT, at this point you will not see a deduction for it.  But, this could change, which is why we're asking if you have any tips not included on a 1099 for this line of work. These could be: - Cash tips - Tips that would have been reported on a 1099-K, but you didn't get a 1099-K because you earned less than $20,000 (this is common for Uber and Lyft drivers). - Tips that would have been reported on a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC, but you didn't get either form from your payer because you earned less than $600. - Tips that should have been reported on a 1099, but the payer forgot or failed to give you your form.   If you are not seeing that box, it is likely because you are not in an industry that customarily receives tips.    No Tax on Tips: How It Works in the One Big Beautiful Bill

I'm doing taxes and my cousin gets her Wisconsin property taxes reimbursed from the Dept. of Veterans Affairs through  Dependency and indemnity compensation.  How can I attach her VA letter to an efile.  If I efile them, they send her a letter to mail in the paperwork so I might as well just mail it in to start with and save the filing fee.  There has to be some way to send her approval paperwork to eliminate the snail mail to prove her status.
Every time I search for the intuit log in screen, I'm taken to a page that is trying to tell me which software to buy. I already have the software and I'm trying to use it.

It imported fine for me. But you are correct, this year's version has many glitches. If any other tax software could reliably import directly, I would be long gone.

This is my note from before.  See if it works for this  year or should get you close.  Basically you need to delete the 1040X form and then manually remove the changes you made to put  your return back to the original return.   If you started amending your tax return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment, follow the steps below. You'll need to undo any changes you made during the amendment process. 1. Open your return if it isn't already open 2. From the menu, select Cancel Amend 3. Select Yes, I want to cancel my amended return and Continue 4. Remove any forms or changes you made to your return before or after the amend process was canceled 5. Add back in any forms you deleted while amending your return
