Schedule 2 is used to calculate additional taxes you might have, like excess advance premium tax credit, self employment tax, additional tax on social security and Medicare tax on Medicare tax on wages.  If TurboTax is calculating Schedule 2 it must be because you have an additional tax.     Review your return, and see what additional tax is being calculated on Schedule 2, once you know what tax it is, you could have more information as to what is causing TurboTax to complete this schedule.   What is IRS Form 1040 Schedule 2?   How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?

The IND-031-04 reject code indicates that the primary taxpayer's prior-year Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) or self-select PIN does not match IRS records.   If you entered the 2024 AGI from the 2024 Form 1040 Line 11 and the IRS has rejected the tax return, then enter a 0 (zero) for the 2024 AGI and e-file again.

The contribution is only entered from the form 1099-R, not as a separate contribution.  And, the 1099-R needs to be code 1, I don't think Turbotax will ask the HSA question if any other code is used.  If another code is used, change it to code 1 in program.   When Turbotax sees a code 1, it will say, "this is taxable but let me ask about situations that might change the tax" and one of those situations is direct HSA contribution.     You also need to make sure you run the HSA interview to indicate that you (she) has qualified coverage for the whole year.   You should indicate that she is "covered" by a qualified HDHP even if the policy is through your employer or in your name.  She is "covered" if she is covered, even if she is not the "owner."

Joint occupancy is only indicated when you shared the energy credit costs with someone NOT on your return.  I would suggest you Delete Form 5695, and step through the interview again to repopulate it properly.  If you're Married Filing Jointly, but live apart from your spouse, DON'T indicate that 'you lived in separate homes' in the interview.   After deleting the form, close the program, and clear Cache and Cookies before returning to the interview.   If this was the only error you had in REVIEW, try skipping the review and go directly to FILE.   @mckitb

I had a penalty once when I had a refund.  I have Home & Business too.   If you get a penalty on 1040 line 38, you might be able to eliminate it or at least reduce it. You can go to Federal Taxes tab or Personal tab, under Other Tax Situations and select Start by the Underpayment Penalties. You will answer a series of questions that may reduce or eliminate the penalty. Or you can elect to have the IRS figure the penalty for you. It's form 2210. How to add form 2210 for Underpayment Penalty https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-payments/help/how-do-i-add-form-2210/00/25703   It's under Federal tab or Personal (for Home & Business Desktop) Other Tax Situations Additional Tax Payments Underpayment Penalties - Click the Start or update button

The extra 2,000 is added to the Standard Deduction.  The new  6,000 senior deduction is on another line.   It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. For Single the deduction starts to phase out at 75,000 and maxes out at 175,000 For Joint the deductions starts to phase out at 150,000 and maxes out at 250,000 If you are married you have to file a Joint return

I actually found a "check" box that was there for entering the QCD amount. I don't think last year's version of TT had that. It was a question, not a list of "check" boxes - 1 of which is for a QCD entry. I found that while waiting  for an answer to my question. But thanks for letting me know. Frankly, the less of the changes to the process from year-to-year, the easier to complete the new year's return. I know that tax law changes may make that impossible, at times, but I don't believe there was any change in the law w/r/t QCDs.  That's a hint! Just saying! I'm retired from programming. So, been there and done that. -:) Bob

Please read publication 526.  The IRS says that if you donate a single item or group of similar items valued over $5000, you must have a signed form 8283 and a signed appraisal.   The IRS does not give any further instruction on what "a group of similar items" means, but it does say that you need the signatures even if you donate the items to different charities on different days.   You will have to decide if you donated one group of similar items, or more than one group.  If you decide that all your items were one group of similar items, you have to stop at $4999 since you don't have signatures.  If you decide that your items are in more than one group, and each group is less than $5000, then you will probably need to file by mail, and you will need to keep copies of your documents in case of audit.
