@MoralesAdan890  asked:  "How can I track a refund for year 2022?" Have you not checked on it in the last 3 years, or is there more to the story?   In any case, if it's a Federal tax refund, you would have to start by phoning the IRS to see if a 2022 refund was approved and sent, and if sent, where it was sent.   If a state tax refund, you would need to phone the relevant state tax agency.   IRS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

I am reporting my Medicare premium as a self-employed person on Schedule 1, Line 10.  The premium also appears on Form 1040 Line 6 (Social Security Benefits Worksheet), on Line B, but I think that's okay because it doesn't really affect the numbers.    My question is, is it okay to still include them on line 6 where it asks for Schedule 1 information which includes Line 15, deductible part of self-employment tax, and Line 17, self-employed health insurance deductions, or is that double-dipping?

Thank you.  As long as you have not filed, you can go back and make any changes.   If your return interview is closed, here's how to open it back up:     At the Tax Home look for a link "Add a State."   That doesn't really add one, but will open the return interview back up.
There is an Asterix (*) sign beside the $ value in line number 13 on form 8606. But Turbo tax is not showing the breakdown for calculations.

Hi All! I'm in the same boat.  I filed my FED and NYS returns on Feb 2nd.  The FED accepted my return same day, NYS accepted the return the next day Feb 3rd.   Received my FED return on Feb 11th.    Looks like NYS was late in processing processing changes into their systems, causing the delays.  At least that's the reason stated in the FOX5NY news story I linked below.  I have a different theory... the longer they delay the refunds the more money they make on the interest float.  Just basic accounting.  Now ask me if I'm shocked... LOL!!!   https://www.fox5ny.com/news/tax-refund-delays-hit-multiple-states

You cannot report 2021 and 2023 income in a 2025 return.   If you are trying to report income from 2021 and 2023, that would take the desktop software for each of those years. Did you previously file a 2021 return and a 2023 return and didn't add those W-2s, or is that what you are wanting to do now?   Please explain your situation, but don't post any personal info in this public Internet forum.   And what kind of "ID number" are you referring to?   Is it an EIN (the employer's tax number?)

My spouse deposited $7000 in a Traditional IRA in 2024 and got a full deduction. So Form 8606 was not generated for her on the 2024 tax return. She deposited $7000 in traditional IRA in 2025 and did a backdoor ROTH conversion. The form 8606 that got generated should have shown $0 as non taxable amount. But it is showing a value of $3808 as taxable amount which is wrong. How do I correct this in the 2025 tax return in Turbo Tax?

In Turbotax, I went ahead and added this income instead as royalty income, and I deleted it as a self-employment business income. Indeed, the self-employment tax disappeared, yet oddly enough, my taxes went UP slightly! I was expecting my taxes to decrease by about $1,000 (with the self-employment tax gone). Why would that be? Is this because royalty income is treated as ordinary income, versus self-employment income being treated as a lower-taxed type of income (plus the self-employment tax).

I have a 1099-Q with Box 4b (QTP to Roth IRA transfer) checked, reflecting a SECURE Act 2.0 Section 126 529-to-Roth IRA rollover. TurboTax currently shows a 'Check This Entry' error saying the program hasn't updated to support this yet — can you provide an estimated timeline for when this will be resolved so I can file before the April 15 deadline?

Thank you dmertz Turbotax is also asking me for Taxable and Non-taxable amounts for my Traditional IRA conversion to Roth IRA for year 2023 and 2024   For 2023, will the Taxable and Non-taxable amounts both be $0? since I did not do the Roth conversion during the year 2023 but instead did it in 2024 (for tax year 2023) before the tax deadline?   For 2024, will the Taxable amount be $0 and Non-taxable amounts be $13500? Since I did the Roth conversion for both Tax years (2023 and 2024) in year 2024?

Thank you.   There remains a programming bug because it is not picking up all the items from my return for the data source details.   Having said that, your suggestion of making an adjustment of 80% to the TurboTax computed amount on Line B can be done without an error or diagnostic.     Thank you for your suggestion.     I still feel badly the error persists because people without foreign tax credit experience will rely on an erroneous TurboTax computation, but I am indebted to you for the workaround in my case.

I've  gone to the top left and clicked on file and entered my file name and then tried saving my tax file multiple times and TURBOTAX 2025 refuses to save my file.   Why is this happening?   What do I have to do to save my tax file?   I've used TURBOTAX for approximately 20 years, and never had this problem before.
Why, for a non-inherited 1099-R  IRA, is Turbo Tax asking for "Original owner's birthdate" to determine how old they would be if still alive
