Nice solve for Deskstop! But unfortunately I'm using TT Online which doesn't have a 'Forms' view.  Certainly hope they get this fixed as promised on 3/6!

I cashed out a life insurance policy in January 2025.  I was 59 but not yet 59 1/2.  I requested taxes to be taken out before they sent me the check.  I received a 1099-R.  Box 7 is Code 7.  As I am preparing my taxes, it appears that I am going to be charged a 10% early withdrawal penalty.  Is that correct?  I realize that I was not 59 1/2 but it was a life insurance policy surrender, not a retirement account.  I appreciate your assistance.

(The Community is a different system than the area in which the Live Experts operate. This is a public forum.)   If your looping issue involves a Desktop product that was not fully installed, please see this help article for solutions.   Otherwise, try these troubleshooting steps:   If stuck in a loop, clear your browser cache/cookies or log out and back in.    If you are stuck in a loop with your state return, try the following fix:   To resolve, close TurboTax and then:   Download the TTStateCleanup.zip file and save it to your desktop or other easy-to-find location. Double-click to open the zip folder. Extract the contents of the folder to your desktop and open the extracted folder. Right-click the downloaded file (TTCleanStates.exe) and select Run as Administrator. Select your version (Personal or Business). Select your state from the dropdown menu and choose Remove (if you're having problems with multiple states, choose Remove all States). Once the tool finishes removing the state return(s), close it and reopen TurboTax. Follow the prompts to update TurboTax at the prompt. It should start downloading your state. If it doesn't, click the State Taxes tab and download it from there. If this fix fails:   Uninstall TurboTax. Double-click the CD or download file to start the reinstallation process. Select Next on the welcome screen. Select I Agree on the License Agreement. On the next screen, where you see the install location, select Browse and change it to the location where TurboTax was originally installed (normally, it's something like C:Program Files (x86)TurboTaxDeluxe 20XX). Select Install after changing the location. Open TurboTax after installation and proceed to your state taxes. If the preceding steps don't resolve this issue, restart your computer in Selective Startup and run the tool again.
As far as I know, if you remove, Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (X64), even TurboTax will not install or run.
Thanks for your reply   As stated in my previous reply, I have already tried deleting form 1099-G twice. I also cleared my return and re-entered my info manually twice. Nothing changed.

Yes, that's what I did as well. It's just the worksheet. Seems like a bug in the software.  I tried 0 but validation blocked it. Then I found it was jut the worksheet and I confirmed turbotax doesn't submit the worksheet, so I tried to delete it. When system validation blocked deletion I entered 1, made sure it didn't recalculate anything that impacted my return, and moved on.

Check your 1040 or 1040SR line 13b.  That's where the extra 6,000 (12,000 Joint) shows up.   It is automatic based on your age. It is not part of your Standard Deduction. The new Senior Deduction is separate and in addition to the Standard Deduction or your Itemized Deductions on 1040 line 12e. The 6,000/12,000 senior deduction will be calculated on 1040 Schedule 1-A page 2 Part V Enhanced Deduction for Seniors which goes to 1040 line 13b with any other sch 1-A amounts. Turbo Tax automatically includes it if you qualify. If you are married you have to file a Joint return.
For Online version You can preview the 1040 or print the whole return https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/accessing/help/how-do-i-preview-my-turbotax-online-return-before-filing/00/26160 If you are looking for the full $46,700 (34,700+12,000) it should be on 1040 line 14. What do you have on 1040 or 1040SR line 13b? See the 1040 ….

I have the same issue when I tried to complete the part for the Efiling, The return got rejected almost instantaneously and I got back the error to await 03-06-2026. I checked on TT site and it shows that this "Forms View" is only available with the desktop product NOT the online version. So - In any case it would seem prudent to await for the 03-06-2026 and retry which is exactly what I am gonna do. Thanks Karthik
What were you trying to do or what page were you on when you got this error? Are you currently outside of Canada?

I got the same message. When I compare my answers to TurboTax questions online to what it fills in the form for 17 a, b, and c they are not matching. Seems like TurboTax system is selecting no for all questions. If no is selected, you can't qualify for the tax credit.

Select your spouse’s return, then click on "2025 Tax Return" on top of the left side menu. Click on "Tax Profile", then "Your Tax Profile". Continue through the pages until you are asked if your spouse has a mental or physical disability. Check that off, and then you'll be able to check off the Canada Caregiver Amount to add to your return.

I live in Massachusetts, and my spouse moved to Ohio in the last quarter of 2025. We are still married, and were living in the same house for most of 2025, so I am filing "Married Filing Jointly".   Unfortunately, Massachusetts does not have a means of allowing people to allocate part-year-resident income if the two spouses did not live in Massachusetts for exactly the same dates. This means that we each MUST file separately at the Massachusetts State level.   Turbotax has no means of allowing this, and the advice in the forum I have seen has been to file the joint return, then come back and create a new blank Turbotax file, without letting it pull from the previous year, and just enter each spouse's income separately in two "Married Filing Separately" returns which are never intended to be filed with the feds. Then you can use Turbotax to generate (and file) the tax forms.    This ... seems like a lot of work. Massachusetts has pretty simple (and free) online filing forms. I know that I "paid" for Massachusetts, but it seems like a lot to have to create two "mock" "Married Filing Separately" Turbotax files, just to get Turbotax to file Massachusetts for me. Massachusetts has a pretty straightforward (and free) online filing system for state taxes, and it seems to me that it would be easier for me to just hand-enter the MA numbers for each of us separately. That's not going to be any harder than hand-entering all of the federal information separately into Turbotax.   I might be missing something, however. Thoughts?
