Hi   I am from Québec  I have made a contribution to my RRSP by having the bank transfer money from my tfsa to a non registered account, then from a non registered account to my rrsp account. The transfers were done same day thus no capital gain.   When I upload my documents from CRA, it uploads the T-5008 and R-18 as capital gains.   since my transfer from tsfa to rrsp had to be technically done by the bank through a non registered accountant how do I enter this in turbo taxes to not being charged capital gains???   thanks

I just installed the latest TurboTax updates to my desktop version of TT Premiere (today 2/26/2026 at 9:50 am MST).  It indicated that an update to the New Mexico State was installed but provided no details.  Can you inform me how I can tell if this update included the correction to Form PIT-ADJ capital gains, so that I can confidently re-file my NM state return?  Thanks.

@dmertz    Thanks for the help! One quick follow-up: Since I am under 59 1/2, will I need to manually apply Exception Code 21 on Form 5329 to avoid the 10% early withdrawal penalty on those earnings? Or does entering the 1099-R with code 'P' automatically handle that in TurboTax?
Generally, you should get Form 5498 every May which reports your contributions. You can also contact your financial institution to get that information.
Good eye.  I was checking all my own input, but missed that little detail. Thanks for clearing that up, and my apologies to the folks at TurboTax.

My 1099R combines my two 2025 transactions: 1) a traditional IRA withdrawal, and 2) a traditional IRA to ROTH conversion (not a backdoor conversion).  This ROTH conversion had taxes withheld, leaving a reduced amount arriving in ROTH account.  My 1099R Boxes 1 and 2 are equal, as expected since both transactions above are taxable.    A Form 8606 was generated showing the full amount of my ROTH conversion BEFORE tax withholding on both Lines 16 and 18, with no other Lines completed.  I have no after-tax contributions.  Is it correct that Lines 16 and 18 should show the gross ROTH conversion amount BEFORE tax withholding, or, should these 2 Lines show the net ROTH conversion amount AFTER my tax withholding?  Did I answer a TT interview question incorrectly? Thank you!

Thanks Patricia for the link to the e-File waiver.   I went ahead and removed the B and e-filed figuring that if FTB has an issue with it, they can still match up by the FEIN...and we're filing early so we have time to make corrections if FTB flags the issue.   I also placed a call to FTB and they were able to look up information new CA SOS file number format and said I should use that next time and that the software needs to catch up.   Please have development correct the validation to include 12 character IDs that start with a B.   Thank you.
There are many different calculations for MAGI for different things.  The MAGI for Schedule 1-A is only the top 3 lines.

The prior year tax return shows the correct amount. When I created this year's return Turbo Tax pulled in most information from the prior year but nothing for a W-2 amount from prior year. When I open and review the 2024 return the W-2 amount is there, but again, does not show as transferred in this year's return for 2025.   How can I manually enter the 2024 W-2 amount value so it is correct in the 2025 Turbo Tax? Does it matter when filing the return or is this just for information purposes?   Thank you

Form 564 is for the aerospace credit. Form 569 is to report a transfer or allocation of a tax credit. Sometimes a person or a business will sell OK tax credit they can't use.   If you qualify for the 564 aerospace credit, you can claim it up to 5 times/years. To enter it: Complete your Federal return first (TurboTax needs this data to start your state return).  Begin or continue your Oklahoma return. Proceed through the initial Oklahoma screens (Income, Adjustments, etc.) until you reach the section titled "Take a look at Oklahoma credits" or "Tax Credits." Locate the Aerospace Credit Look for a category called "Other Oklahoma Credits" or "Business & Energy Credits." Find "Credit for Employees in the Aerospace Sector" (it might also be labeled as the "Aerospace Industry Engineer Workforce Credit"). Click Start or Update next to that line. Enter your information, employer, graduation, credit amount - usually $5,000 unless you are using a prior year carryover, enter that amount. Caution: the first year filed, a copy of your diploma or official transcripts must be mailed to the state. @dletsinger
