You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner. The IRS does not allow you to take it back.
If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.” The changes will go nowhere.
Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return. If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.
Sometimes—not always— the IRS corrects your mistakes, while they are processing your return.
If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund. THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally. You will need to use a form called a 1040X.
Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself. Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
The Form 1040X is scheduled to be available on February 26. The date is subject to change, so check on 2-26 to see if it is ready. Before that, do not change anything at all on your return.

You and your GF are confused about some things. GF cannot file as HOH unless she has a qualified dependent. GF needs to file Single. Since you are the higher earner, you can file as HOH ---and you say you are claiming the children.
If you are a non-married couple who live together with your child, then only one of you can claim the child(ren) and the one not claiming the child does not enter anything at all on their tax return about the child. The “sharing” of child-related credits you may have heard about is only possible between divorced or never married parents who live apart and share custody and who have a written agreement to share the credits. The child’s SSN can only be entered on one tax return. Any other return with the child’s SSN on it will be rejected. If you are a family, then work out how to share the refund between yourselves.

@mariannrenardo asked: "I can't get in to the return to do that" If your return interview is closed because TurboTax thinks you were finished, here's how to re-open it to make any corrections before filing (or refiling if correcting a rejected return.) At the Tax Home page look for a link "Add a State". That doesn't really add one, but will open the return interview back up. After making your corrections, if you want to try to efile again, you can go back to the FILE tab to correct the 2024 AGI and resubmit your return.

What a joke. I am getting ready to file my 2025 taxes and this is the first I have heard of this. I have been using ItsDeductible for well over a Decade. I always do my Goodwill receipts last and now I can't finish my taxes without the software. The following message is posted by Turbo Tax "COMING SOON: We’re working on a new tool to help you look up the fair market value of your item. We expect it to be ready soon, but you can file without it." SOOOOO my question to Turbo Tax is when is SOON? I mean it is Tax Season after all and returns are due in less than 2 months. And when Turbo Tax says you can file without the tool, that is false. Charities do not give you itemized receipts. So let me send a clear message to Turbo Tax, IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT. BRING ITSDEDUCTIBLE BACK OR YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE THOUSANDS OF FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS YOU HAVE HAD FOR DECADES, INCLUDING ME. So I guess I will give it a few more weeks to see what Turbo Tax comes up with, but if nothing changes soon, I will be changing to a new Online Tax Provider after 19 years with Turbo Tax.

Sorry---there is no instant access to your refund. You have to wait for the IRS to process your tax return.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/irs-refund-taking-longer-21-days/L2vRAJbdU_US_en_US?uid=lexe7lst
If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/internal-revenue-service/federal-refunds-delayed-due-path-act/L5jnQJsBi_US_en_US
Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.

If you take NO action—-the IRS will freeze your refund for at least six weeks and then mail you a check.
If your refund is sent back to the IRS—- make certain that the address you entered on your Form 1040 is correct. And…open all mail, even if it looks like junk mail.

It rejected for the wrong AGI? You can try to fix it and resend it. You don't have to mail it. Try entering 0 for the AGI. The IRS might have processed your return later so the AGI didn't get entered in time. Especially if you mailed it. That works for most people. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
