Thanks MinhT1 For my clarification, is the NET amount converted to a ROTH IRA you mentioned 1) the net amount of ROTH conversion after taxes are withheld that end up in the ROTH account, or, is it 2) the net amount of my total Traditional IRA withdrawals that was withdrawn for ROTH IRA purposes?  Thank you.

If you cash out the whole-life policy after it's been transferred to you, you are generally taxed on the amount received above the total premiums paid.    If the transfer is a gift (not a transfer for value), the basis typically carries over from the prior owner. That taxable portion is treated as ordinary income, and the insurance company will issue a Form 1099-R showing the gross and taxable amounts.     For more information, see IRS Publication 525, and the IRS Interactive Tax Assistant

"HSA says my total contributions for 2025 is $8,288."   What happened is that you received a distribution of $328 as a return of the excess contribution and you deposited that $328 back into the HSA as a personal (not through your employer) 2025 contribution.  That combined with the $7,960 contributed via your employer in 2025 makes your total contributions for 2025 be $8,288.
Called TurboTax support again and they now say there is a known problem with TurboTax 2025 for MAC and license activation and there is not a fix. They recommended I ask for a refund. Which I did.
it is not for tax bill, it is the $25 efile charge with TurboTax.

First, you need to wait until the initial return is completely processed.  The amended section of the software will not be updated until the expected date of March 4.   If you want to make changes or add a document to a tax return that has already been filed and accepted by the taxing agency, you should follow these guidelines.  You must first wait until the initial return is completely processed.  You will have to use the same TurboTax account that you used for the original tax return.  Once you begin your amendment, you'll see your original return.   The refund calculator will start new at $0 and only reflect the changes in the refund or tax due  Only make changes to the areas of your return that need to be corrected.  You have three years from the date you filed your return or two years after you paid the tax due (whichever is later) to file an amendment  Select your product below and follow the instructions.  Amend TurboTax Online  Amend TurboTax CD/Download

Correct.  I am assuming you are referring to with Schedule 1 line 24b not 24c?  Since you are renting to a relative below FMV, it is considered personal use, not for profit. That means, this is treated just like it is your home.  You cannot include expenses in a way that will reduce the income.  This is similar to hobby income.  You must report the income, but you cannot claim the expenses associated with the income.   If you want to be able to deduct expenses next year, you would need to raise the rent to FMV and treat them as you would a stranger.  Then you would be able to deduct the expenses associated with the income as it would all be reported on Schedule E.

Yesterday (2/25/2026) after filing my taxes using Turbo Tax online, I receive a rejection notice for both filings indicating it was the result of a calculation issue on fed form 5695.  One of the screens indicated that a fix will not be in place until March 6, to re-file at that time.  Here's the rejection reason code: /Return/ReturnData/IRS5695/EgyEffcntHmImprvCrGrp/EnablingPropertyGrp/PanelboardCktFeederStdPctCrAmt   Can you confirm that this is not issue on my end but something ("processing error)" that needs to be fixed on the software end?
