MY STATE REFUND WAS LESS THAN I EXPECTED The state will send you a letter explaining the change.  TurboTax does not get any feedback from your state after your return is accepted, so no one at TT knows why your state refund was less.   Did you owe back taxes, child support, or student loans?  Traffic fines, etc.?     https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/state-taxes/contact-state-department-revenue/L9qVToi02_US_en_US?uid=m6e06um0

I've spent hours getting my taxes ready, then right before I'm about to head to file them, I get hit with this:   Georgia Nonconformity to Depreciation on the One Big Beautiful Bill Act - It's telling me I have to file a Georgia Form 4562 if I want to file now, or wait for Georgia to conform, which I can't find any information about online.   I'm using Turbo Tax to simplify things, obviously, so when I opened up the Georgia Form 4562, I've completely lost my mind. I have no concept whatsoever of what this means, how to fill it out, or what to do from here.   Can anyone provide information about what I need to do? Is Georgia expected to conform to this sometime soon so I can meet the April 15 deadline, or am I just going to be forced to pay someone to figure out what on earth this form does and how to fill it out?    Apologies for my tone. I'm just livid that this can't just be a straightforward process.

That is actually an option in the FILE section.   You can choose to e-file federal and mail the state.   But you will still have to pay for the software you used to prepare the state return.   It is not free to print it and mail it if you used a paid version of the software to prepare your federal return.

No, your income is reported in the year you received it.    Social Security benefits are treated on a cash-basis, taxable when received.   The only social security benefits you have to enter into TurboTax are the benefits that get reported to you on Form SSA-1099.   If you do not get that form, you do not enter the benefits on your tax return.

Did you e-file your state tax return and was it accepted? You complete your tax return by finishing all 3 Steps in the File section. In Step 3, to e-file your tax return, you must click on the large button labeled "Transmit my returns now".   After completing the File section and e-filing your tax return you will receive two emails from TurboTax. The first email when your tax return was transmitted and the second email when the tax return has either been accepted or rejected.   Note - Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Only the taxpayer listed on the tax return can obtain the status of a tax refund or a tax return.   To check the status of an e-filed return, open up your desktop product or log into your TurboTax Online Account. You can find your status within the TurboTax product. If accepted by the state use this TurboTax support FAQ to check the state tax refund status - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_...

You did not pay to have federal and state refunds deposited at the same time since that is impossible and is not offered.   You misunderstood.  You did not pay for your federal and state refunds to arrive together.  You may have paid the "refund processing fee" to deduct your TurboTax fees from your federal refund, but that did not mean you would get federal and state refunds simultaneously.  Federal and state refunds come from two completely separate entities; it is not possible to coordinate their arrival together.     How can I see my TurboTax  fees?  https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/intuit-account-billing/review-fees-turbotax-online/L1XnIzgzg_US_en_US?uid=m682vq7k

Thank you, also, can I get your thoughts about whether this should show up on schedule C or E? I'm a bit confused because my average length of guest stay for the year was 6.3 (so less than 7) and I did sometimes bring the guests treats, towels, and/or other supplies during their stay but I didn't do daily cleaning so I don't know if this passes the "substantial services" test.  I overall have about a $22K loss from the STR activity that I'd like to use to offset W2 income. Does it matter if I put it on schedule C vs E?
