@Jhass since the advice seems to be contradictory, why not contact the bank to see how they'll report it?

Ys, it should be the full $598.50. Where did you enter the OT premium and when you walked through the remaining steps did you select that you already know the deductible amount or you would like TurboTax to calculate it for you?   If you said you would like TurboTax to calculate it for you, it would have divided it by 3 and then entered that amount as the deduction.   To fix this you can go back through the W-2 section and then when you get to the Overtime questions, the one that says do you want us to calculate it for you or do you know the number, select that you know the number and that is the right amount.  This will take it back up to the full amount.

@MarilynG1    I agree with your comment about the audit not required, as I noted in my comment about the order of questions on Form 5695 (Residential Energy Credits) and the verbiage in the form's instructions.   BUT - also as I said earlier - this is a Turbo Tax bug - unless I specify a non-zero amount for the audit (I did not have one), Turbo Tax is NOT giving me the A/C credit.   So, I am forced to specify $1 for the audit I did not have, and then Turbo Tax correctly enters Form 5695, and I get my $600 credit.   This is DEFINITELY a Turbo Tax bug.
When I did this it brought my return down by around $500 for $2266 in income. Does that sound right?
Thank you so much for the info. I updated the software and now it worked as expected. Best, tad61

It appears that there was an error when I closed my 2025 tax return and it did not save, now when I go back to 2025 it only gives me the option to start new.  I would like to download information from my 2024 return but do not have the option to pick a previous return from my desktop.  I have used turbo tax for several years so have access to all returns on my computer thanks

This is likely because you did not select the box that says you have already completed 4 years of school.   Go back to your 1098-T entry section and walk through the steps.  You will come to a question that says do any of these apply.  One of the questions is did you complete 4 years of college?  Say yes or put a check mark in that box.  This will take away the American Opportunity Tax Credit and give you the Lifetime Learning Credit if you qualify.   To get there select the following: Federal Deductions and Credits Education 1098-T
Thank you. Will I get a message regarding their progress?

My base pay is $19/hour.  My overtime pay is $28.50/hour, so my overtime premium is $9.50/hour.  I worked 63 hours of overtime, so my non-taxable overtime income is $598.50 (63 x 9.5) and this is the number reported in box 14 on my W2.  I have two other W2's from non-exempt work and my total wages from all three W2's is just over $36,000.  I have no other taxable income (i.e. interest, dividends, etc).   How come Turbo Tax Deluxe is stating my overtime deduction is $200?  Should it not be the full $598.50?

Turbotax Business Desktop: When going thru the filing process, Form 8825 shows up as blank pages.  I have tried at several times, checked and installed updates, and have also attempted to print specific forms, selecting only the Form 8825, and the output is still blank. Similar issue with K-1 forms.   There's a blank page, and then the "Additional Information from Schedule K-1" does show up correctly, and K-1-P forms do show up correctly.  But the K-1 does not.

@KrisD15    On your following comment: DO NOT ENTER EXPENSES SUCH AS ROOM AND BOARD WHICH DO NOT APPLY TOWARDS AN EDUCATION CREDIT.   Your comment is only partially correct because it is short-sided. In almost all of employee responses in various posts, they focus on the education credit but missing another very important element which is about offsetting the 529 distributions against ALL of qualified education expenses, including Room & Board. If the taxpayer does not include the Room & Board expense (as you suggested) which is a huge amount, any 529 distributions used to pay for this qualified expenses will not only become taxable income but also subject to 10% penalty!   Room & Board expenses, up to the amount published by the college as part of the Cost of Attendance (COA) are QUALIFIED education expenses, allowing one to use their 529 distributions toward it. Therefore it is imperative for TT to allow the user to enter their Room & Board expenses [as well as any other qualified expenses].   The image below explains the QUALIFIED expenses for the purpose of 529 distributions that the taxpayer should be allowed to enter. The red box shows what is now missing. It worked perfectly well up until this year.
