Thanks for responding.  I get the accounting of it.  I am asking the TT of it. I guess I can override the current year depreciation and change the basis to equal current and prior year depreciation to have $0 ending depreciable basis?  I try to avoid overriding whenever possible. I am hoping not to have to paper file.

If TurboTax is not letting you continue, you can try the following: Go out of your program and go back in. Clear your cache and cookies. Try a different Web Browser. If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates". If you have any additional questions or information regarding this please return to TurboTax Community and we would be glad to help.   The tips deduction only reduces federal income tax. The tips are still subject to Social Security tax, Medicare tax (FICA), and in some states, state/local taxes.   Also remember that the deduction is limited based on your income.  The phase out  starts if your income is over $150,000 ($300,000 for Married Filing Jointly).  If your income is over $400,000 ($550,000 for Married Filing Jointly) you will not get the deduction.

What a company shill you are. You’re the only person I see defending this lazy customer service while everyone else is commenting how poor these updates have been and that this is some pretty horrendous customer service. If you enjoy paying for a service where they lead you astray and keep pushing you along week after week then go for it. Myself and others are not going to pay money to a company that refuses to properly address this issue and provide better updates and clearer communication. I hope this hurts turbo tax because this has been some truly horrible customer service and will definitely lose them a lot of long time customers such as myself. Enjoy the TT kool aid

Having Merrill make your tax documents available as pdf files in your Tax Center has zero affect on being able to import that data into TurboTax UNTIL they perform further processing on the pdf files.  And it remains a mystery when they might do it since they provide no notice once it's done.  TT users have to periodically try to import and will know when the data is ready only when they are lucky enough to finally succeed with the import.  That said, it seems certain that the problem lies at the feet of Merrill Lynch, although TT might be programmed more smartly.  It now tells users cheerfully that their data is downloaded into TT and ready to be used when returning to TT reveals the opposite.  Shame on both companies.
I checked for updates but they are still saying DO NOT FILE

TurboTax doesn't explicitly ask for Form 8606 by name because the software is designed to trigger specific forms only after you've entered the underlying financial data during the interview process. The prompt for this form occurs after you've reported a Traditional IRA contribution and then designated it as "nondeductible" within the Deductions & Credits section.    Additionally, traditional IRA to Roth IRA conversions (Part II) and unqualified Roth IRA distributions (Part III) will trigger Form 8606 too.    @Socket1021 [Edited 2/18/26 12:00 PM PST]

Are your entries saved when you return to the Rental Property detail? If so, ignore the "Not started" message. When you run Smart Check (under Review), TurboTax will alert you to any remaining entries you need to make.   Note that the depreciation calculations within the software have not been finalized, which may be causing the message you see.  This update is expected to be available with the end of the week updates, on February 20, 2026.

Just leave ALL boxes 15-17 Blank, no spaces.   Don't enter state wages in box 16.   #2 1099G  On your 2024 federal return did you take the Standard Deduction or itemize on Schedule A?  If you took the Standard Deduction the state refund is not taxable and you don't need to enter it al all.  If you itemized see this answer for Payments and Withholding https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/retirement/discussion/state-refund/01/3770157
