Unfortunately this wouldn't work for CA taxes. In schedule CA, there are two separate subtraction line items, line 2 for "taxable interest" and line 3 for "ordinary dividends". If the AMD amount is added to the 1099-DIV as ""A portion of these dividends is US Government Interest", then that subtraction will be reflected in line 3 "ordinary dividends" in schedule CA, which is not correct.

I have account with Intuit and QuickBooks. When I am trying to setup account in TurboTax, system is offering me setup that leads me setup with Individual taxes vs S Corp. When I am making changes via link "something changed this year" I am getting to offer for "Made for S-corps, partnerships and LLCs" but after selecting it - I am back to ground 0.
Thank you, Mike9241. Will amending returns trigger audits?

If you already e-filed a tax return that was accepted by the IRS and now you e-filed again, your e-file will be rejected.    The IRS will not accept more than one tax return using your Social Security number.    You do not say how long ago you filed on that other site, so you will have to just wait to see which one is accepted.   Or...maybe they will both be rejected....if that happens you can try to fix one of them and re-file.

It's possible you prepared your 2024 return in another account.   But here's something to try first:   While logged into the account you are using, go to the Tax Home tab. Scroll way down the Tax Home page to the section "Your Tax Returns & Documents". Expand that section and choose tax year 2024. What does it say about the 2024 return?    Does it find the 2024 return, and if so what does it say for the status?   If efiled, was the 2024 return accepted?   If you can't find the 2024 return there, you may have multiple accounts, which is common.   If necessary, we can tell you how to troubleshoot to look for other accounts.

Hi there, It seems I have to file a dual-status tax return for the year 2025 after surveying. I had worked for an US team of a Japanese company in California for 7 years until the end of 2024 as a green card holder and moved back to Korea as of Christmas in 2024 and got changed my affiliation to the Korean branch and got paid from them. I abandoned my green card in February of 2025. From my understanding I have to file as two status : 1) January 2025 - February 2025(resident alien) 2) the rest of the year(NR)   I've been working on the tax return on TurboTax and someone says I still can file 1040 only and write 'dual-status statement' across the top.  A question I have now is about foreign accounts I have in Korea and Japan outside of the US. This is one of the biggest hassles every time I file my tax returns because I have to calculate and write more than 5 accounts on 1040 as well as FBAR.  Do I still need to do all of those over the whole year even though I was resident alien a little more than a month? I hope I could file only 1040 by TurboTax. Thanks, Jane

Thanks! Let’s say I treat them as gambling winning and losses. I know where to add gambling winnings and losses in Turbotax (other miscellaneous income), but it does not allow adding losses unless you add winnings. If there is only loss, no winnings, how do I add that? Can you help me with that? Also, let’s say I found how to do that, would Turbotax calculate/consider the loss against the Robinhood stock gains so I pay less tax on gains?

That isn't true.  I withhold tax so I'm not surprised in April.  My box 16 has always been blank or $0.  My box 14 is not, it is the state tax amount I have withheld.  I live in Indiana.  I certainly hope this is resolved.  It wasn't until last year that I had a problem.   Can someone remind me what I must have done last year to make this work so I don't fall into the vicious cycle of hitting my head on the wall.  Was it to enter the taxable amount which is what Box 1 and 2A represent for me.?    I haven't started my taxes and I dread this part already.  Ugh!  And I enjoy doing my taxes.

Enough is enough.  Suggest that everyone write to the IRS (which permits Intuit/TurboTax to participate in its e-filing program) and voice concern about harming US tax compliance with extremely tardy updates and a misleading system (which indicates it's OK to file a return without updated depreciation).  Use the Systemic Advocacy  site: Systemic Advocacy: Report a systemic issue | Internal Revenue Service

the 1040-X for 2025 will not be ready until February 25th, per the current TurboTax website.  Save a PDF of the original return as a backup, just in case. Your 2025 amended return should not be submitted until the original return is fully processed. Think of the trouble you would have if you submitted beforehand, and the IRS changed something.
