In TurboTax Online, access the rental activity assets by following these steps:    Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal. Down the left side of the screen, click on Wages & income. Scroll down to Rentals, Royalties, and Farm.  Click down arrow to the right. Select Start / Revisit to the right of Rental Properties and Royalties. At the screen Your 2025 rentals and royalties summary, click the pencil icon to the right of the rental. At the screen Here's rental property info, click the pencil icon to the right of Assets. Your 2024 income tax return should include an asset summary.  From this report, at the screen Confirm XXX prior-year depreciation amounts, you will report Total prior-year depreciation and Total prior-year alternate minimum tax depreciation.   At the screen Depreciation summary for XXX, you will verify the date placed in service, cost basis, depreciable basis (total cost minus cost of land) and recovery period.

@user17742261769  Or since the Desktop program can do unlimited returns you can do test returns.   Do a MFS return for each of you.  Go up to File-New tax return.   I think that might be better than the What-If worksheet.   Be sure to save the returns with different names, go to File-Save As.  I also put the word TEST in the name.

If TurboTax is not letting you continue, you can try the following: Go out of your program and go back in. Clear your cache and cookies. Try a different Web Browser. If you are using TurboTax Desktop make sure all updates have been run on your program. You can do this by clicking on "Online" in the black bar across the top of your TurboTax screen. And then select "Check for Updates". If you have any additional questions or information regarding this please return to TurboTax Community and we would be glad to help.
Thank you, David. But the totals have both costs and proceeds. Wouldn't the total costs fine?
@ernie.desouza it should be part of your SS benefits statement, form SSA-1099.
I did as per your instruction but still getting the same error 190

I have a military pension and an income from a federal civil service retirement.  Turbotax is combining the two on my federal return and carrying it forward to my Oregon state return as one line item so I can't input my Oregon military pension subtraction #307 on OR-ASC.  Does anyone know a way to correct this?  Also, the medical subtraction #351 isn't calculating correctly.  I'm attempting to use Turbotax Desktop.

I live in DE and work in PA. My W2 shows different state wage in box 16.   For 2025, the number in box 1 matches the number in box 16 of DE portion. PA box 16 shows a higher amount than DE.    In 2024, the number in Box 1 does not match box 16 of either DE or PA.   PA shows a higher amount on box 16 than DE in the W2 for both years. Other than the W2 age, I have some interest income that gets added to DE income.   How should I calculate the double- taxed income in order to claim the credit on taxed paid to PA? Is it the minimum of box 1 , box 16 of PA and box 16 of DE W2?

The reminder is simply that your 2024 tax return should reflect that the excess contribution was returned and that any attributable investment gain was reported on the 2024 tax return.  Only if these were not already done do you need to amend.   Other than providing you with this reminder and crediting any tax withholding on your 2025 tax return, 2025 TurboTax ignores the code-JP 2025 Form 1099-R.  If the form shows no tax withholding (it's rare that any taxes are withheld from a return of contribution), your 2025 tax return will be the same whether you include this form or not.

Hello,  I am having difficulty using Turbo Tax online where it will not generate form 8606. Hi,   I came up with a similar situation for 2025. Would you be able to help me out?   I was in a car accident where the amublance came. The ambulance ended up being out-of-network with my health insurance, but I appealed the health insurance's denial of payment, and they ended up sending me a check for the ambulance bill (which I paid).   Do I need to report this anywhere? I'm thinking it's a similar situation as my original post. I would think that the $200 check from my health insurance as a reimbursement would offsent my $200 medical expense that I paid to the ambulance company, so therefore I shouldn't need to report either.

Assuming that you have a question about state tax exemptions for Illinois:   The standard personal exemption is calculated using the basic exemption amount of $2,050 plus the cost-of-living adjustment. See this Illinois webpage for more information.   For tax year beginning January 1, 2025, it is $2,850 per exemption. If someone else can claim you as a dependent and your Illinois income is $2,850 or less, your exemption allowance is $2,850. If income is greater than $2,850, your exemption allowance is 0. For tax year beginning January 1, 2026, it is $2,925 per exemption.  If someone else can claim you as a dependent and your Illinois base income is $2,925 or less, your exemption allowance is $2,925. If income is greater than $2,925, your exemption allowance is 0. For prior tax years, see Form IL-1040 instructions for that year. If you (or your spouse if married filing jointly) were 65 or older and/or legally blind, the exemption allowance is an additional $1,000, whichever is applicable. (If you turned 65 at any point during the tax year, you may claim this exemption.) Please see the IL-1040 instructions for additional information.    Note: The Illinois exemption allowance is not allowed if a taxpayer’s federal adjusted gross income (AGI) exceeds $500,000 for returns with a federal filing status of married filing jointly, or $250,000 for all other returns.   TurboTax will calculate any personal exemptions allowable on your Illinois state return, based on information you entered in the My Info / Personal Info section of the Federal return plus any additional questions in the Illinois interview, along with your income.   @THicklin
