All good suggestions by multiple folks. However (hint to TTax developers), wouldn't dropping an error/warn/info log entry to Mac (or Windoze) sys logs save us all a world of pondering grief? I've crawled mine (Mac user) multiple times, this and other errors, and OS based logs not including any bread crumbs from application (TTax) level. Disk space is "cheap", anomalous application behavior should be recorded by any savvy app... Please note com.intuit.turbotax.2025(...) already has much spam on other events, just not the really salient ones. P.S. Humor - Anybody else on Intuit web site getting spammed with dubious "HTTP 429 - Too Many Requests" error? 😉

mbcohen, yes yesterday and tonight tried to view print my NYS tax froms couldn't. I tried to have TurboTax notify me when the forms were available that was a dead end. I'm going to call TurboTax tommorow. How can I submit my taxes when the froms haven't been finalized yet. FYI if you go into forms in "my return" you will see all the NYS froms used for your return. Good luck

All versions of turbotax file uploads under "add investments" have : "Make sure it ends in .pdf, .jpg, .jpeg, .png" There is literally no way to upload CVS files. It automatically fails. I don't understand how TurboTax had this feature since forever and for some reason this year it's magically gone. I and thousands of other people have paid CoinLedger, Coinbase, etc to create CVS files of gain/loss or transaction history AND TurboTax removed the option to upload this??? I don't need a guide. You guys need to FIX THIS asap. I will wait until the end of the month and if the option to upload CVS files isn't there, I'm leaving TurboTax for another tax service that actually works. That article is outdated.

So how do you know which 1099-R to delete? And why should this happen if your 1099-R comes from an American company and you have no Canadian Pension?

If you have made changes since you e-filed, you messed up your tax return and will have a problem when you try to amend it. Put it back to exactly the way it was before you e-filed. When you amend, you need to be able to work from the return exactly as it looked when originally filed with the IRS.
The 1040X becomes available in late February. Restore your return to its original appearance and back away from the keyboard.

The rental period allowed depreciation expense which reduced your income for tax purposes. This also reduced your cost basis for any future sale. Depreciation is required to be recaptured at the point of any sale in the future regardless of timeframe. The tax law is clear and is not new.
The simplest way to report your sale is to use the total days rented divided by the total days you owned the property. This will allow you to arrive at the percentage that should be allocated to the purchase price and selling price for each sale (personal second home and rental property). The depreciation does not change and must be used to reduce your cost basis on the rental portion of this sale. It is like you are selling two separate properties and is the correct action.
Sale of Business Property:
Income and Expenses at the top
Scroll down to Other Business Situations
For TurboTax Desktop: Business Income and Expenses > Less Common Business Situations
Select Sale of Business Property
Select Sales of business or rental property that you haven't already reported.
Answer 'Yes' to Do all of the following apply...?
Enter your sales information:
Description of the Property (Machine Type)
Sales Price/Sales Expenses
Date acquired and date sold
Cost
Depreciation
Next sell your personal portion as a second home sale as a sale of investment property which will go to Schedule D:
To enter your second home sale in TurboTax, follow these steps.
Open or continue your return.
Navigate to the investment sales section:
TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to Investment Sales. If using this application, make sure it is open
TurboTax Desktop: Search for investment sales and then select the Jump to link.
Or Personal Tab > Continue > I'll choose what I work on > Scroll to Investment Income > Select Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
Answer Yes to the question Did you sell any of these investments in 2025?
If you land on the Investment sales summary or Your investments and savings screen, select Add More Sales or Add investments.
Click this link for more information. Where do I enter Investment Sales?

Thanks for the quick response! Just a question for clarification. I understand now reporting the 1099-INT because it is income. But a forum online says not to report the Mortgage interest (1098): "Because you are taking the standard deduction, mortgage interest paid from a joint account is not reported or claimed on your return. Mortgage interest is an itemized deduction, and by choosing the standard deduction ($15,750 for MFS in 2025), you are using a flat amount instead of listing individual expenses." Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you!

Student (freshman undergraduate) received scholarships that covered tax free expenses (tuition, fees..) and taxable expenses (room, board, insurance) . The university stated that "student not eligible to receive form 1098-T". Can student (or parent) still claim any education credits? (AOTC or Life Learning Credit) without a form 1098-T and how can scholarships be reported to maximize education credits? If student files income tax return separately from parents (stating that student can be claimed as dependent on parent's form) can student use the standard deduction?

No.
You may need to file an amended return.
The IRS has a copy of your W-2 and 1098-T, they always did.
Entering them into TurboTax is not how the IRS gets their copies, your employer sends them a copy of your W-2 and the school sends them a copy of your 1098-T.
Since you filed without one of your W-2 and without your 1098-T, you will need to wait to hear from the IRS. They may process your original return or (most likely) they will send you a letter asking about the missing W-2.
At that time you may need to file an amended return or work with the IRS to get it straightened out.
HERE is a link that explains amending returns.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2025 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
https://www.irs.gov/refunds
To track your state refund:
https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-refund/track-state-refund/L3jgO8PGs_US_en_US?uid=lt447ebr
If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund before early March

Note: “Accepted” is not the same as “approved”. TurboTax tells you the e-file was accepted if the IRS deems that there is enough information on the return for them to take it in for processing. Only the IRS can approve of the refund, which is a later stage of processing. If the IRS approves your refund they will provide a date for the refund to be issued.
FROM THE IRS WHERE’S MY REFUND SITE:

How it works
Where's My Refund shows your refund status:
Return Received – We received your return and are processing it.
Refund Approved – We approved your refund and are preparing to issue it by the date shown.
Refund Sent – We sent the refund to your bank or to you in the mail. It may take 5 days for it to show in your bank account or several weeks for your check to arrive in the mail.

The IRS will not make a direct deposit to a foreign bank. Some ex-pats maintain a U.S. account for this purpose. Some have visited their nearest U.S. embassies to purchase reloadable debit cards with a US billing address to use for their refunds. Otherwise, you will eventually receive a check but it will take much longer.
