It sounds like TurboTax is looking for information to match the specific type of form being entered, so let's delete this entry and then re-enter it.
Note: This RRB Form 1099-R (Green Form) has its own section and is not entered in the Standard Form 1099-R section.
How to delete the 1099-R:
Go to the Income section
Click Review on IRA, 401(k), and pension plan withdrawals
Click on the trash can to the right of your Form 1099-R, which will delete the Form
Note: After deleting, go out of the Income section temporarily before inputting the Form again by clicking the Deductions & credits on the left panel. This helps to refresh the system
Next, re-enter your Form 1099-R:
Return to the Income section and re-enter your Form RRB 1099-R (Green Form), ensuring you select the RRB 1099-R box, before carefully following all of the prompts
Note: a Blue RRB Form 1099 is not entered in the 1099-R section. That form is entered in the Social Security (SSA-1099, RRB-1099) section
If your Box 3 has an amount, then you do need the annuity start date because it means you have "basis", or money that you have already paid taxes on*
If your Box 3 is blank, TurboTax will know that the full amount is taxable
*For the Annuity information section, if applicable:
Annuity start date (when you started receiving payments)
Select Simplified method (standard method typically used), or General Method, if applicable to you
Number of months payments received in 2025
Any tax-free amounts previously recovered
