I have Other Income that I have reported in the Miscellaneous Income category, which is on Schedule 1, Part 1, Line 8z. There are 2 line items, and the net result is 0. On the Tax Forms only download, there is no Schedule 1, and no "Other Income Statement". When I download the Turbo Tax Worksheet as well as the Tax Forms, there is an "Other Income Statement" detailing the information I put into the Miscellaneous Income category. If I e-file, will Turbo Tax also include the "Other Income Statement" that is only in the Turbo Tax worksheets, and which is a re-statement of Schedule 1. Schedule 1 doesn't appear in the tax forms download, probably because it has a $0 total amount, but if I e-file, will Turbo Tax send or not send the IRS the Schedule 1, Part 1, Line 8z detail as an "Other Income Statement"? I, of course, want it to be e-filed with the other income detail, but that extra couple of pages doesn't show up when I download the e-file tax forms.

I am having the same issue. Got a run around from the AI bot. Sure would be nice if there were a customer service number connected to a real English speaking person?

Q. Oh ok so I keep the taxable amount as that 10K?
A. Yes, since you will be using all the available expenses ($3859) to claim the credit, all the scholarship amount is taxable income.

The money in a UTMA account belongs to the child, not to the parent or the custodian. The Social Security number on the account should be the child's Social Security number. The income from the UTMA account, such as dividends, is the child's income, not your income. You do not report the income on your tax return. You report it on the child's tax return, if the child files a tax return for any reason. If the child does file a tax return, they have to report all of their income, no matter how little it is.
You can go to Do I Need to File a Tax Return? on the IRS web site to determine whether a child is required to file a tax return. When it says "you" or "your" it refers to the child. Answer the questions as if you were the child.

It doesn’t let me get that far in my info the ONLY thing it will let me do is verify my own info. There is no prompt/on screen option to add a child I’ve already reinstalled 2X and cleared my info a few times as well. Theres just no button for it after I hit verify it immediately jumps me to income. I would love it if I just put the info in wrong

I agree with your assessment - if your residence is in the U.S., this box should be checked, even if you would not quality for the EOC. Unfortunately, the online version does not allow you to view or edit the forms. There is no Forms button or Info Wks information. I tried calling TurboTax for help and spent an hour on the phone. They weren't understanding that the flaw is with their software. They should just have a question about residence and yes/no to populate this box on the 1040 form irrespective of EOC.
