I entered the amount of the 401k distribution that was rolled over to the IRA. However on the tax forms I don not see the taxable portion reduced by that amount. How do I enter or update the amount so the portion that was rolled over is not part of taxable income? Is it a bug in TTax 2025?

As a self-employed person, you are allowed to deduct business expenses related to your business. In fact there is no absolute limit but you have to keep records of all your expenses in case of verification or audit by the IRS. The IRS says: To be deductible, a business expense must be both ordinary and necessary. Please read this IRS document for more information.

Not until the IRS updates the Form 1040-X instructions for tax year 2025 can TurboTax provide a 2025 Form 1040-X.
Current IRS Form 1040-X instructions are for tax year 2024 - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040x.pdf

I just went back and looked at it again. This is under Federal>Other Tax Situations>Form W-4 and estimated taxes. It says "Enter [Husband's] 2026 age" and below "verify [husband] age as of January 1, 2026". I know that we turn a year older in 2026, but the program still calculated our ages incorrectly for January 1, 2026.

Yes, I saw that advice on other similar question threads. I can confirm this does not fix the issue since I cleared browser history and cookies, tried a different browser, and then attempted again on a different computer. It appears to be a glitch in the TurboTax software itself that persists across sessions. I saw others flagged this issue years ago. I can work around it by entering miscellaneous user-entered line items for rental expenses, but this is not ideal and this issue should be addressed by a technical solution.

@Shawnaw0925 The bank will refuse the tax refund and return it to the IRS. The IRS will mail a refund check to the address on the tax return. This procedure can take from 10 to 20 business days.

Hi, I'm unsure whether I would still take business expenses when I didn't actively conduct the business but I received IP royalties from previous work (generating a 1099-MISC, reporting on Sch C). If I were to take all of the sorts of deductions as in previous years (the sort that go under "other"), I'd have several thousands in NOL, which I've had for the past few years and sounds like an audit risk if nothing else. There are however a couple of small expenses that I think remain fair, such as the website informing people of my past work. Also there's the possibility of getting a new contract at some point. Another way to put this is, since I receive income am I still actively conducting business?

I have similar issue. I have heat pump installed line 29 a has QMID and cost of installation No other cost associated with panel or electrical work. 2000 credit is calculated. Submitted form and got rejected. Email with rejection does not give any code. The following is the message. /Return/ReturnData/IRS5695/EgyEffcntHmImprvCrGrp/EnablingPropertyGrp/PanelboardCktFeederStdPctCrAmt - There is a potential issue with the calculation regarding Form 5695, Energy Efficient Home Improvement section, Enabling Property on the Federal return Opened TT (desktop) and checked status. It also says return was rejected. Let's fix error. When I let TT fix error, nothing is being changed. It says ready to file (I thought may be it fixed something without me changing anything) and upon re-filing, I got the same error. My 5695 where this data was used is shown below: Any idea, what is the reason? Last year, there were few messages and someone pointed that Joint occupancy needs to be unchecked on top of 5695. I do not have that box checked (Married filing jointly). Please help me with this issue. I am paying significant penalty for under-withholding so sooner the better. Thanks.

The deduction for personal property taxes in TurboTax is in the Deductions and Credits section, then Cars and other things you own, then Personal Property Taxes. There is a "learn more" pop-up as you mention that says you can deduct personal property taxes if they are assessed annually are based on the value of the property. I believe it is in the section for Cars and other things as the tax is normally only applicable to vehicles.
