I found my mistake.  On the “Let Us Enter Your Bank and Brokerage Tax Documents” page, I should have clicked on the Skip Import button (and not the Continue button).  I wish TurboTax stayed with the old button description that said something like:  I will enter the data myself.
@MarilynG1 Neither suggestion worked.  I may try to delete the state return and re-start it unless you or someone else has another suggestion.

Turbo tax failed to let my gambling losses get deducted in Massachusetts.  I entered the detail from my Form W-2G in my income but the system apparently would not carry that to Schedule X in MA.  To efile in MA, it forced me to remove the $500 of losses which pertained to the gambling winnings and cost me $25.   You need to fix this bug

Thanks, but can you clarify?  My mom granted her husband the right to live in the house until his death.  This was spelled out in her will.  My mom died in 2008.  Her husband, was granted the right to live in the house (outlined in her will) until his death (he just passed).  The house was deeded to me and my siblings in 2008, but  myself and my siblings (I believe in this case we are considered the remaindermen?) just received possession of the house on his passing.  So are you saying FMV will be based on todays value (2026) based on the life tenant just passing?

Yes. It is being asked to compute your total cost basis. Since you can withdraw your original contributions at any time no matter your age without taxes or penalties, tracking the basis is much less complicated to do each year, rather than when (if) you take an early withdrawal.    If you did not take a distribution in 2025, this information is not required to file, but providing it now helps the software track your basis for future years.

According to the individual forms lookup tool, the Form 1040X is available in TurboTax Online and Desktop. If your software is up-to-date, you should be able to make your changes and file, following the TurboTax FAQ instructions below: If you want to change or correct some info on a tax return after it's been accepted, you may need to amend your return.   To amend your federal tax return in TurboTax Online, go to Tax Home, scroll down to Your tax returns & documents and select the year you want to amend.   Select the Amend (change) return dropdown, then Amend using TurboTax Online.   Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return.   To amend your federal tax return in TurboTax Desktop, you must use the software for the year you're amending. For example, you must amend your 2025 return in the 2025 version of TurboTax.   Open TurboTax Desktop, then select Amend a return after it was filed and accepted by the IRS.   On the Did you already file your return? screen, select Yes, then the applicable option under Tell us a little more about your amend situation.   On the What do you need to change on your return? screen, select Update next to the info you need to change.   Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return.   If you're still unable to amend, to troubleshoot your software:    First, begin logging out of the TurboTax platform you're using, Online or Desktop. If you are using TurboTax Online Check ‌your browser's settings. (Clear your Cache and Cookies) Here are the official instructions for the most popular browsers: Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox Microsoft Edge  Or, Try using a different web browser to login and complete your entries.  If you are using TurboTax Desktop Make sure the software is updated.  If you haven't rebooted your computer, please do. Check your firewall and antivirus settings. Make sure they aren't blocking any feature of the software.  ** If you are using the phone/tablet app, try changing to laptop/computer if possible. If you do not have access to a computer, switch to a web browser within your phone or tablet, and sign in from there.  **You might also want to uninstall and reinstall your desktop product (this has worked for some users). Make sure that you save the file and do a back up of your information (you do not want to lose any information). See: How do I back up my tax file in the TurboTax Desktop software?   Note: The IRS has added the current year version of the form online, but they have not yet added the 2025 instructions.
